The next bit is what I hate about World Cup play. The obligatory what if so and so and what's his face and that guy played soccer discussion.

Instead of talking about if so and so played soccer the country needs to concentrate on getting more and more elite athletes to focus on soccer as a career. Then we will be a power house.

I'll never forgive wondolowski for that, and for that matter, I'll never forgive Klinnsman for subbing him in. Anyone else scores that, more than likely myself included. Brutal.

/rant.

Don't think I can forgive Wondo either (not for a while, at last) but I can't blame Klinsman. That moment was tailor made for Wondo. The perfect poacher's chance.

Hahaha... see my last post. Sorry.

Wouldn't it be quicker to just buy a team and make them all US citizens?

Don't get the Wondo hate. He was going to be ruled offside (even though he wasn't). I suppose if he puts it in, all the hate goes to Fifa and the refs instead of Wondo. But then the loss would hurt a lot more if it were straight up robbery by the line judge.

I could see Calvin Johnson being an amazing goalie...

I think its pretty evident that we already have an amazing goalie. Goalkeeper is one position where the USA regularly produces world class players. Our backup Brad Guzan would start on 95% of all teams.

The commentators later admitted that they misinterpreted the offside call. Wondo was on-side.

No doubt. I watched a big chunk of that game and even listened to it on the radio as I drove home from work. Howard put on a show. I just remember an episode of sports science where they showed how Calvin Johnson could cover some 4000 cubic feet.

Pretty much any Euro country has club training academies for kids starting in their teens. Not to mention all the best athletes play soccer. Imagine if the US didn't have football or basketball and all those athletes played soccer from a young age.

Thanks. Makes sense. I was trying to figure out how a nation of 11 M people that is divided into three different sects that speak three different languages could be so much better than the US.

So, if the US youth and parents committed to soccer they could pretty much rule the world if the best of the best played.

Sure, 20 years after the NBA, NFL, and CFB die out and kids are raised focusing on soccer. :)

I can't even be mad at Wondo.. That's just part of it. Things happen, you miss gimmes. Anyone that's played enough soccer knows it happens.

I actually just feel bad for Wondo. But I'm disappointed in Dempsey. I thought he missed a lot of good chances and just didn't play that well.

More than half way through the semester and I have a 104 average in Statistics.

Man, I thought this class was going to kill me. For some reason, I just get it.

I had an instructor for a statistics class with a VERY thick middle eastern accent. I was half way through the semester when I realized he was asking us to "develop" a model, not "double up" a model!

I had a calculus professor like that. English was his 7th language. I got more confused being in class than teaching myself at home from the book. At one point, he called the denominator of a fraction the terminator. I gave up on him at that point. I went in to take tests and quizzes, no more lectures. Taught myself from the book.

For those of us mourning the USA loss, I give you the return of Kate Upton.

I'm just mourning the fact that I'm still going to have to listen/read soccer discussions despite the fact that we've been eliminated.

I'll still take Kate Upton though.
