OK -I watched the game. I know I am dumb about it. I understand the excitement. But it was clear to a novice like me that Belgium played much better as a team. Do they and other top countries have better systems or player selection methods?

Pretty much any Euro country has club training academies for kids starting in their teens. Not to mention all the best athletes play soccer. Imagine if the US didn't have football or basketball and all those athletes played soccer from a young age.

The US was 1-2-1 in WC play. The games were close and interesting to watch. ESPN did a good job with coverage. I await the day the US makes a move and gets over. Though intrigued I am not satisfied.

Wow, that was a heartbreaker. Tim Howard stood on his head. Ultimately, Belgium had too much quality. America will win the World Cup one day, and the world will mourn.

I don't know about those specifically but surely you agree there are athletes in the NFL or NBA that could be good soccer players if they would have grown up with it.
