Yes, it is. Especially out west.
Just stop. I've been around soccer my entire life. It's the same song, same tournament. Soccer explodes during the World Cup and back to its place in September. Same thing with the Olympics. I love soccer but I'm not going to let reality get ousted by an exciting and prideful tournament. We have a handful of players that grew up overseas on the USA squad. Again, it's growing but slowly.
It always explodes more than the last World Cup but the numbers show it's growing and not exactly what I would call slowly. The USA Portugal numbers beat out any non football broadcast on espn ever.
I'm not disagreeing about soccer growing but some of that viewership is just the novelty of the World Cup. Only once every 4 years builds up quite a bit of excitement.

The Portugal game is only because of the Ghana win. This argument is brought up every single World Cup. Trust me, I want soccer to grow and flourish in the USA. The USA mentality makes soccer that much better. But it's just a pipe dream and has been when the discussion is had after and during every World Cup. Its as old as "espn hates Tennessee".
And you mention Seattle increasing but don't mention the teams in LA decreasing by 5000 from 2012 to 2013. Regarding attendance.

Some have decreased but that's with every team especially a team that has lost star players over the last couple of years like LA.
But you can't ignore the fact that Seattle averaged more fans per game than any MLB team except the dodgers last season. Also New York red bulls bounced back and increased by almost 7%. With the influx of easily recognized names startin to come to the US, attendance is gonna continue to grow. It won't ever overtake NFL or NBA in popularity but the mlb and nhl are certainly within range now.
With football over legislating the physicality of the sport, soccer will only get more popular. Especially considering football may not be around several years from now.
I don't care how long you've been around soccer, it's a different time period.
