Hey guys, I (and others, I'm sure) have an e-mail subscription to this thread, can you stop arguing with each other so I don't have to keep dismissing e-mails that have nothing to do with Mr. To'oto'o?

Yours truly,

If his name was actually CHEF that sh*t might be funny in EVERY thread

He sure stirs the pot like a chef. And he is a DB. So a pic of the chef who may be the biggest db ever seems appropriate. If he didn't act like a db and try to start fights and call people "clever" names like doo doo in every thread I would never post it. It is even funnier when you come to his defense. Keep doing that.

That dog may think he wants some of that, but he don't.

We used 2” x 10” joists on my son’s Eagle Scout Project. Nothing will affect that deck. We used hurricane braces and tension ties with carriage bolts.

Love it, build them like you only want to do it once.

Newt, I agree with others, if concrete or pavers is an option, it's the way to go. I've installed many of both on the houses I've flipped. Pro/con list.

Concrete, obviously the more permanent solution but that can be a drawback also. If anything ever has to be dug up in the area or you decide to expand, it will never perfectly match.

Stamped HAS to be maintained or the color will fade over the years, the sealer can be rather slick in bad weather. Some sealers less so.

Pavers- you can always pull and replace because of digging or add on easily. However, ever growing roots etc; can push up. The polymeric sand between them will also need redone on occasion but is a diy project. Would also recommend a footer in the area of the hot tub to prevent settling from constant weight.
