You know who really is persecuted? The minority religion if a given place and time. It's almost as though unscrupulous people use differences in religion, or anything else for that matter, as an excuse to push an agenda of hate for personal gain.

The idea that anyone in America is in danger of having their children, property, or livelihoods taken from them because of religion or lack there of is laughable at best, paranoid fear mongering at worst

Beware of the slippery slope. It has started to some degree. We are supposed to have freedom of speech but say something someone with power doesn't like. Someday you may look around and say...

"Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Exactly.

Care to give some examples then if it's already happening?

This may not be PC but lighten up. If Bass can tell people that their religious beliefs are false I should at least be able to say that Catholic weddings make me tired and take too long.

I didn’t tell them that, Jesus did.

But I went to a Catholic wedding once and it was very long.

Christianity being mocked as is common on here. Christianity being deemed hate speech. Freedom of religion has become freedom from religion.

Thanks Ziti. Just got where I could post again.

If a Christian doesn't agree with something then they are accused of hate speech and hounded until they capitulate or are more or less ostracized.

Where has it been deemed hate speech?

Lots of things are mocked, that doesn't mean it the start of children, property, and livelihoods being taking away.

I don’t get why churchy play the persecution card so much. Comedians making jokes about you is not persecution. You’re still the vast majority of the country. Non-believers are vastly more unpopular in the US today (and no, that’s not persecution either).

Want to know the easiest way for a presidential candidate to tank any and all chances of being elected? Come out as an atheist or an agnostic. You’ve gotta at least pretend to have some kind of faith.

Having people disagree with what you believe or make jokes about it isn’t persecution. You’re not disenfranchised (especially if you live in the south guys, c’mon). It’s just socially acceptable for the first time in our country’s history for people to outspokenly disagree with you.

I've honestly been surprised about the fairly even numbers in the recruiting forum.
However, when this subject is broached in the football forum, it's an overwhelming landslide of completely mocking non believers. Is it the more even numbers in this forum that makes it persecution?

You gave me the eye roll gif earlier with no explanation of how Christians aren't guilty of persecuting others.
Is it at least possible that you have been guilty of all the same things but only seeing it as a negative now that the playing field isn't as one sided?

He said slippery slope earlier. That’s the direction we are headed. Acceptance of everything. If you don’t agree with something then you “hate” that thing. That’s the country’s mindset.

I’m a big opponent of the way the regressive left is trying to reclassify hate speech.

But nobody is being put on trial for their religious beliefs. Being asked to tolerate people with beliefs/lifestyles you disagree with isn’t a lot to ask.

It is more than being asked to tolerate it. We are supposed to agree with it or we are labeled as bigots. I don't hate anyone, but there are lots of things I don't agree with and will never believe are appropriate. The left would label me a bigot for my failure to approve of those things I disagree with, but disagreeing with what I believe is not viewed in the same light by those same leftists.
