Everyone says that 5'11" 220 is big. But I was 5'10" 215, squat 410 lbs. and benched 285 lbs. the end of my junior year. Although, my 40 time was only clocked at 4.8 seconds i could keep up with 4.6 guys and was way stronger. Had a coaching change. The incoming coach loved daddy coaches, and him and my dad didnt get along. Ran for over 100 yard/game the first three games then broke my foot on Monday following my third game. Came back after 4 weeks but didnt get to play till the 9th game of the season. Started back the last game and that was it. Didnt make playoffs. My coach told my dad he didnt see me playing at the next level and refused to talk to college coaches. (Bias against my family) I came from a smaller, unsuccessful highschool. Never camped and didnt have any coaching support to get me to the next level. Always said I'd walk on somewhere but honestly didnt have the money to continue to go to school and choose not to be in debt to start my life so just gave up my dreams. Thats my career. Lol. All that to say, I dont think that a 5'11" 220 back is that big.

Thanks uncle Rico. Should've pumped that bench max/ 40 time a little tho to go with the story.. jk man. Good story

From the stats I see I really don’t think kids are as strong as we were coming out in late 80’s. Oh course I don’t know if steroids are as rampant as they were back then. Half our high school team was either on Test or Anadrol.

Too many legal substances that give the same results as steroids without the side effects. Yes the ADD ADHD drugs do have an affect on how the kids attack the weight room and beyond

There’s nothing that touches anabolic steroids that’s legal on the market. If that was true nobody in pro sports would ever get caught doping.

It’s not even noon and I’m drunk looking for bacon

Any pork product will do. Two birds. Hit up a bar and load up with Knob Creek. After enough of that anesthetic, drag the least offensive hog out of there. :yess:

awesome....you were fairly strong and really slow.

So what is your 40 time hot shot? This was also before my senior year as i did not run a 40 time during/after. Would have been around 4.6, which maybe to you is slow but its not really. I understand it is not the 40 that ITS runs but isnt "really slow".

Good job, mrMet. You win the d-head of the day award. I was giving background as to why I dont feel that is very big.

Literally nothing of your "we'da won state if coach had put me in" story had any relevance to your opinion that 5'11 220lbs isn't big.

Please just bow out gracefully.

The best posts I've ever seen on this site were the ones where the guy said he lifted cars in high school. Anybody remember his name? That was so classic...

Never once did I state "we'da won state if coach had put me in" or anything of the sort. My team sucked. I stated my background because I figured someone would say, well with your strength and time why didnt you go to college with offers. 4.8 isnt terribly slow. I stated that i was probably more around 4.6 my senior year but never timed my 40. Say all you want, just 5'11 220 is really not that big.

No offense, u sound like u were a good athlete and all, but those measurables aren't very uncommon.

Feeling sick, stuffed up, phlegmy, tired, sore, etc

Anyone have any home remedies I can take on top of some medicine to help speed up recovery?

Two table spoons of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar, some hot water and a touch of honey

From this point forward, I won't take any posters opinion of a recruit serious unless they list their own respective senior year measurables.

Personally, sr totals 227 tackles, 32 sacks. 14 int, 22 pbu, 19 ff, recovered 20 of them

Yeah, you can continue to be a jerk, its cool.

You're saying I'm being a jerk. But I was a 6'1" 170ish lbs and I don't remember off hand my squat or bench numbers then but I do remember running a 4.9 forty because I was embarrassed by that as I always thought I was fast (for a white guy). Our coach sucked and called predictable plays and my high school literally only won 5 games my entire high school career (didn't play freshman year). I hurt my knee during a scrimmage going into my senior season and I barely saw the field. I felt I could've played at the next level but the coach was biased against me in favor of more talented and athletic kids. I never camped and skipped practice too much because my then girlfriend was pretty easy and at that age I loved sex more than football (still do). Swore I'd walk on somewhere and win national championships but never tried on account to really just being an average athlete (although I'm real good at racquetball). Plus joining the navy got in the way of those dreams. Lol. All that to say, I don't think I was being a jerk.
