Come to east Tennessee near Elizabethton and go to Ridgewood. None better. I could go and just eat the beans.

Grew up in Bristol, went to school one year near Jackson - have been to both places many times, both are fantastic, very different...

Edit - been 35 years...

You had me until Chatnooga... that is how northerners/yankees say it. People from the south and those who live and are from the city say ChattAnooga... that one is a slow pull...

Chatt-town
the "nooga"
Chatta-boogie

are also acceptable.
Yep..Chattanooga is where I was born, all my family from there says ChattAnooga. The only ones that cut it short to Chattnooga are from somewhere else.

Did any of you know Buford Pusser?

I didn't know him, but I met him on several occasions. I first met him after he had been shot in the jaw and he didn't speak very well. I was probably 16-17 when I first met him and the man was a really big dude.

Born and raised in Bluff City, and I’ve eaten bbq all over the place. Ridgewood is mediocre at best. Jim n Nicks is 10x better than Ridgewood.

i went to Ridgewood once and it was horrible, maybe just a bad day

Don't care for it myself. Southern Craft in Johnson City is much much better. We get a lb of pork to make tacos, wife makes homemade vinegar slaw (i dont touch mayo), drizzle some of their sauce on them! very good.

There's a couple places in Asheville - 12 Bones (Obama ate there during last election, back in '08), gotta try the Blueberry Chipotle Ribs.

Haw Creekside Taphouse - great place. Best Bruswick stew ive ever had. Nuts and Bolts burger with fried egg, cheese, bacon and bbq pork on top. Best burger on Earth.

Menu – Creekside Taphouse

owner owns City Bakery, so bread is made fresh everyday. house cur sweet potato fries!

No the Hut was in Jackson, not Jack's Creek, corner of Highland and Campbell, in what I assume is still referred to as Highland Park, although back then it was Hicksville. The house I grew up in was actually just a few blocks from The Hut. When I was in HS in Jackson I actually bussed tables at Georgia's, a restaurant that was beside The Hut. Georgia and her brother Johnny were Greek, and the food there was awesome. But, yeah, The Hut had pretty good BBQ, although I generally preferred getting BBQ from one of the many little BBQ shacks that were around town.

Not barbecue but Highland Park donuts were the business. I live in the area and I would weigh about 4 bills right now if they were still in business.

Where is this Jim n Nicks you speak of?

It’s a small chain. We always stop and eat at the one in Hoover, AL when we drive to Florida to see our family. They have some locations in the Nashville area too. If you ever pass one, stop. It’s banging!

I still like Ridgewood but it is not as good as it was 20 years ago. There are a couple of Jim n Nicks in the Atlanta area now, and they are not that great here. The best BBQ tends to come from the guys who go to the various competitions.

Ridgewood named best BBQ in Tennessee | News | heraldcourier.com

Some like chocolate and some like vanilla...

I've been to Memphis and agree that there is some great BBQ there. I'm in North Carolina now and hate this vinegar based stuff.

Tennessean thru and thru, but I love the Carolina vinegar based BBQ. Still love my Tennessee BBQ, but love the Carolina style too.

Vinegar based BBQ sammich with cole slaw on in. It's da bomb IMO. My Brother-In-Law...a born and raised Tennessean thru and thru, who lives outside of Nashville still, makes the best vinegar based BBQ I've ever had.

Worst BBQ has got to come from Ohio. Those folks couldn't cook a pig right if their life depended on it.

Yeah, I mean it’s ok, but some people act like it’s the bee knees of bbq, and it ain’t. The only Jim n Nicks we’ve eaten at is the one in Bama. I think the best bbq I’ve ever eaten was in Austin, Texas.

Jim n Nicks has gone downhill. They tried to grow way to quick and ended up losing its quality. The moment it was sold to Good Smoke BBQ it went backwards.
