Actually the Christian faith is growing in China and Africa faster than any place in the world. Heaven will be filled with people from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation!

And it originated in Palestine so... 🤔

There’s gonna be a lot of upset WASPs who show up at the pearly gates and realize they’ve gotta share it with IMMIGRANTS

Ugh! I wasn’t going to get involved this time around with this discussion until this last comment. I am a member of the Church of Christ. I am going to try and stay out of this discussion as much as possible, because many here already know my viewpoints and beliefs, since we have had this discussion numerous times. The one thing I will comment on is the necessity for baptism to be saved. Mark 16:16 is crystal clear; Acts 2:38 is crystal clear; Romans 6, the numerous conversions to Christianity in the New Testament using baptism (Saul/Paul, Ethiopian eunuch, Cornelius to name a few) are all crystal clear that baptism is a necessary part to obtain salvation. However, that’s not the only thing...confession and repentance of your sins(which means there are many things in your walk of life that you have to completely change and turn away from, in order to truly repent); remaining faithful until death, living a life that reflects Christ (after all, Christian means Christ-like). I hope this helps with any misunderstanding you may have of the necessity of baptism.

If you get saved on your deathbed with your last breath then too bad for you.

Everything in the bible allegedly took place in a relatively small area of earth, in the middle east around Palestine.

Kind of a jerk move by him to essentially send everyone else who populated the world to eternal damnation simply because they had no way of knowing anything about him.

Bro, you need to find some good teaching and it is way deeper and complex than that. Ain’t getting into it here. But no one is held to something they knew nothing about and man really can’t understamd God but his judgment is pure and fair and not one man on this earth is to be feared because no one earth has the power to decide your eternity.

At least it wasn't corn. Bwaa-ha-ha. It's not funny, yeah it is, kinda. But just last week I had to take a leak that I had been holding right after I left Athens, TN back to Knoxville. Dude said I didn't want to go in there, I did anyway. 3 seconds later, I was gagging and 10 seconds later, I was behind the dumpster relieving myself. Yeah, that is so wrong

Make no mistake, this was worse than corn. Looked like little almond chips peppered in the hockey log that was a foot long at least. Looked like something that some kind of wild animal out in the jungle would back out.

Ignorant would mean that it’s not true. But it is.

Not really. It’s a view taken from a western, Judeo-Christian perspective. Reeks of a hot take from someone who’s read a little bit about Buddhism or Hinduism in a textbook and has little, if any, real dialogue with practitioners of other religions.

Talk to a nichiren Buddhist in his own language and he’ll tell you that viewing enlightenment as an achievement you make through effort is missing the point completely and akin to a dog chasing its tail.

Had this exact discussion with a neighbor whose dad was a pastor in COC and he said this was what was taught and why he turned his back on everything.

Told him to ask his dad when COC was started and what about all the people before then who believed in Christ? No COC so all went to hell. That my friend is like saying Christ work in the cross is not enough for your salvation. That is making a mockery of the cross and what Christ did. Might want to rethink those positions.

Faith without works is dead. We aren't saved by grace alone. We have to do what God's inspired word commands us to do. Christ died to save the ungodly, but if we don't keep God's commandments, we won't inherit the kingdom of heaven. And fiwiw, not all, but many church of Christ churches are based off of the first century church that was established in Acts 2. Take a look at Romans 16:16 as well.

Darth has one goal in talks like this. To belittle Christianity.

Did I make any comment on Christianity? I stayed out of the rest of the bickering about Christianity in the previous pages.

My point was about other world religions. Saying they’re all about achievements based on effort is simply not true, especially if you look at belief systems from the past. There are plenty of religions where the greater powers are nearly indifferent to the achievements and efforts of humans.

You just changed the water & got it up to temp within the past couple of days, so staying at the 101 temp right now “should” be normal. I wouldn’t expect it to stay that way for a week. No continuity is a sure sign of a bad element. If the element is bad, then the pump should not be cycling. Have you noticed the pump cycling or not? Taking so long to get to temp after the water change is what made you look into this?

Yes. I changed the water. Dumped my hot water in her to get a jump start. If I recall I was in the low 80's when I turned it on. It took forever to warm up. Like 36 hours. Once it got there it seems ok. I'm sitting in it right now and it cycled off while I was in it. I'm befuddled. I've tested residential water heaters by checking for continuity and if they were open, they were bad. Could just the pump maintain the water temp at 101°?

How old do y'all think the earth is?

Scripture reveals in Genesis 5 and 7:6, if my math is correct, at the time of the flood earth was around 1650ish yrs old.
Around 300ish yrs after flood Abraham was born, Genesis 11, making earth around
1950 ish. Abraham was 100 when Issac was born. Issac was 60 when Jacob was born. Jacob was 91 when Joseph was born. Joseph lived 110 yrs. Making earth roughly 2310 yrs of age at Joseph death. Joseph was sold as a slave and put in Eygpt as a teen. According to Exodus that is were the decendants stayed for 400 ish yrs. So earth was around 2600 ish when Moses led Israel out of Eygpt. Now from history documents I’ve seen Moses wrote the first books of scripture between 1445 BC and 1400 BC. 2600 + 1400 = 4000. 1 AD to now is 2000 yrs. Around the 6000 yrs mark is what i believe.

Also, Shinto. No real achievements to be had there. You take pet in some rituals to try and make a connection to your ancestors. When you die, you join then. Hopefully your ancestors try to keep a connection with you. No real heaven/hell/enlightenment concept there. You live, you die, hopefully you take pet in some rituals and festivals. That’s basically all there is to it. You could make a pretty good argument that it has less of an effort/achievement dynamic than Christianity, because faith isn’t even necessary in addition to there being no real goal or reward.

There are pantheistic belief systems that don’t feature any sense of effort/achievement dynamic.

I’ve got no problem with people believing what they want religiously (except for Scientology...if you believe that than I’ve got no time for you). But claiming there are only two religions or belief systems just isn’t true. I’m not sure why anybody would have any interest in making that kind of claim to begin with. Making your beliefs seem more unique by mischaracterizing others isn’t necessarily a good recruiting tool. Unique isn’t always analogous with good. Scientology is pretty unique in a lot of ways and it’s just a powerful cult.

You say "it" cycled off. When it calls for heat to cycle, the heater contact block closes (to start the heater) & the pump will start. When the heater block closes, it will usually have a humming sound coming from it the entire time it's closed. Listen for this the next time it cycles. I can't believe that the element is still working with no continuity.

Pump can't create enough friction to get the temp to 101 or maintain it there. Let's eliminate the pump keeping it heated

Yes, it cycled off meaning it is at it's programed temperature of 101°. It has a 30 min. timer when you turn it on. I was in the tub when the 30 was up and it went to circulation mode then to off. I stayed in it another 5 min to see if it would cycle back on but it never did. When I got out it was still 101° on the display.

The world began in 1982. It'll end shortly after my death when someone decides to cut the lights off.

Also, none of you can prove me wrong...

...because you're all figments of my imagination.

OK, it cycled off from the 30 minute timer & not from a t'stat cycle. Forget the humming contact block mentioned earlier. After thinking about it, it won't tell what I thought it would.
Give it a few more days & see what happens. 3 things will definitely happen if the element is bad.
1) the water temp will drop
2) when this happens, it will call for heat & pump should turn on to cycle
3) pump will not turn off because the water can't get up to temp

If it's the element & you want to change it, I can help you with it if needed. Someone as yourself that knows how to use a multi meter should have the skills to change a hot tub heating element. It's not hard, but there's some other parts associated with the element that will need to be inspected while "you're in there".
Keep me updated

Will do. Thanks for your input.
