Well I lived in Buckhead off of S Marcus and drove to Athens twice a week for work..so I guess I know what I'm talking about. Period. In the meantime if I need a refresher on Sarasota geography, I'll defer to your expertise:hi:

Did you leave your house anytime between 7-10am or 3:30-7pm?

I work in Georgia and have business ventures throughout Atlanta and Athens. I also know what I’m talking about. Let me know however if you need directions in sarasota. I can help there also.

Yeah man I often did leave at around 730 AM. Since you know so much about Atl traffic then I'm assuming you know that traffic on 85 goes the OTHER direction in the morning, and that if you can clear Spaghetti Junction its only about 15 minutes to get to 316...where traffic is once again headed the other direction. BTW, based on your claim that it takes an hour to get out of the city, it would be 4 hours to get to campus. It would take a distastrous wreck to take 2 1/2 to get to Athens. So once again, theres more than 90 minutes difference.

I brag on secking as our best guest poster, but he’ll go all paranoid on you if you talk flip with him. :scare:

Wouldn’t Bill be going from Athens to Atlanta? The time isn’t that huge a factor from UT to Atlanta. I drive 3+ hours most days. Also, UT, Bama, Florida, hell 30+ schools have as many connections in Atlanta as UGA. It’s an incredibly transient city as you’re aware.

I'm not sure whether the time would be a factor for him or not. I'm just trying to disabuse you of the notion that Athens isn't much closer than Kville.:)

Definitely agree with your assertion that he doesnt need to be in Athens to have access to Atlanta market.

Yeah, we’re both marred in a useless argument considering he won’t be commuting to Atlanta when he’s finished with school.

1)That’s still double the distance.

2) That’s not really accurate. It’s a solid 3 hours from Marietta to Cumberland Ave. Its only an hour and ten minutes from Buckhead to Athens.

By helicopter. Dude, you live in Atlanta, have you ever started in Buckhead and end up in Roswell/Alpharetta GA in less than an hour?

1) I don t live in Atlanta. I live in Johnson City now.

2)My niece has her learners permit, and she can drive from the heart of Buckhead (up Roswell Road through Sandy Springs) to Roswell in under an hour.

3) Not sure where the Roswell/ Alph reference is coming from as we are discussing the distance between Athens and Atlanta.

lol an hour and ten minutes from Buckhead to Athens? lol... it takes an hour from Buford to Athens. How the hell you getting there in an hour 10?

it takes my wife an hour and half to get to buckhead (where she works) from Buford on a great day.

Most of the argument between SonofUTband myself got moved to off topic where we resolved it. Having said that, distance to Atlanta means nothing. What does matter is connections after school in Atlanta. UGA has no more connections in that transient city than UT, UA, AUB, UF etc... heck, event BIG schools have anchors and wealthy donors/alum there. That should’ve been my argument with SECking from the start.

Brother, it used to take me ten to 15 minutes to get from my place at Sid Marcus to the QT on Jimmy Carter and then another hour to get to Athens from Norcross. I'm not saying it never took me any longer but that was pretty much the average. I don't really know what else to say about it.

How long ago was that? My brother used to live NE of Atlanta when I was in college from 98-02. I visited him several times a year. Traffic was bad then, and I am betting it is twice as bad now.

Can't change your location below your avatar?

Freak! Help! Even after nearly 3,000 posts and eight years, he's lost on the forum.

So sad. :cray:

Clever! Out of the three points I brought up, that was the one you wanted to discuss. I was certainly under no obligation to reveal that I no longer live there. It had nothing to do with the conversation at hand, I just chose to be honest. No mention of why you brought two towns into the conversation that weren’t being discussed. Tell you what, Ill work on making sure that my profile is updated and you tend to your not so great debating skills and we’ll compare notes.

That’s a fair point. I moved back to Roswell in 2011 and worked locally, so I wasn’t traveling it nearly every day at that point. I moved to Johnson City 4 years ago. I try to get back when I can but it’s not like I’m a current frequent driver.

You don't have to. On mobile, just tap their name and then add them to ignore list from their profile.

.

Edit: uggh, Freak gotta help me out here, can’t figure out why some gifs work automatically on mobile and others don’t
