Amen..and said beautifully. For a minister I'm not an eloquent man. I wish I could say things better sometimes, but I'm just an old redneck country boy saved by grace.

Thank you. Keep speaking what the Lord lays on your heart and count on the Holy Spirit to work into the hearers' understanding. You are deeply appreciated by believers like me and the non-believer needs to hear the unvarnished truth. :hi:

I feel like most if not all of us are just going to keep going in circles and repeating ourselves.

So I'm not sure if much progress is going to be made or not with continuing on and on.

I would just advise us all to read the Bible and look at what it says. And not try to just explain it away to make it fit our beliefs. And not just assume it means something different than what it says right there on the pages, and not to just assume it's just about an idea rather than what it says on the pages.

To me, that seems like man speaking for God. When God says His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8).

Just please let us all resolve to read the Bible and read what it says. Not add to it or take away from it. Just what it says.

Y'all have a blessed Lord's Day. I am apparently going to be stuck planting flowers this afternoon. Whoooo hoooo!

Sam, I always enjoy your posts. I am clearly not as well versed with Scripture as you. You suggest reading His word, and therein lies one of the issues. The Bible is God's word in written format. But, people can interpret writings in many different ways. How many times have you discussed a book with someone who interpreted it differently? I am an attorney, and I have conversations on a weekly basis interpreting laws, statutes, and cases that are put in writing. Many legal controversies are about applying certain facts to laws or principles and interpreting them.

I have always been one for interpreting His word for today's society. Today's society is complex and has changed immensely since the time of Jesus. There are simply things that aren't practical today, from both the OT and NT. It is a way of life for me. If you have a relationship with Him, follow His teachings, and thank Him for everything you have, then your life will be rewarded in many ways. JMO.

OT means that the way your baptized has little to do with what you're trying to accomplish. God couldn't care less what procedure was used. IMO

Agree to disagree. Baptism is a re-enactment of the death burial and resurrection according to scripture. Paul says you are buried with Christ then when you come up out of the water you are raised to a new life. Sprinkling doesn't match that description.
