lol actually a huge percentage of "illegals" are people who come over with work visas and just stay after it expires.

So yeah, walls and border security are a pretty dumb way to try and police that if you're actually interested in curbing the number of people living in the US illegally. If you're looking to hand out some fat contracts to campaign donors, on the other hand...

Truckloads come walking across. They purposely do not deport them when caught as well.

IMO drastically increasing border security is a waste of money. It would be more effective to really crack down on companies hiring illegals. Increase work visas and punishment for hiring illegals, then the job pool for illegals will drastically shrink. The large majority of Mexican immigrants would then be documented and paying taxes.

Give lots of hard workers a chance to legally better their lives while increasing the tax base. Seems win win to me.

Whatever it takes to fix the problem. There is no single answer. Would take a multi-pronged approach.

Why do some of you guys get so torn up over that? I don't bump threads for that reason but it doesn't hurt anybody does it? What's the big deal?

When it got bumped, someone came into my office and stabbed me.....so yes.....it does hurt someone. Good to know that you don't think my being in the ER getting stitched up isn't a big deal.

All because of a needlessly bumped thread.

Lol i take it back. Hope you have a speedy recovery

After having McCain and Romney the last two cycles, we have someone in Cruz who is a truly proven conservative to vote for, not someone pretending to be one just to court the base.

I will be beyond excited to vote for him, because I really believe in him and that he is very much what the country needs right now. Even Rush Limbaugh has said he is the closest to Reagan that we have had in our lifetime.

Other words from Rush on Cruz: (yes I know many are skeptical of Rush, as well, and even I get frustrated with him because he often takes up for Trump). But his words on Cruz:
"He understands conservatism because he is. And he is a nice guy, he's a likable guy. He's not crazy. He's not nasty and he certainly is -- he's not a liar. He's a down the middle guy that anybody could trust. He has got plenty of integrity. This is what happens in politics. Establishment doesn't like him either. It's not just Trump. And that's because he is who he is. He is conservative. He does want to get government out of people's lives, and that, we can't have that if you're the establishment."

Before anybody freaks out, if you check the context, when he says "down the middle" I believe he is not saying that about his policies/ideology but speaking more to his truthfulness/integrity.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna step away from the off-topic thread for a while, for a few days at least. I have way too much going on right now in life to keep up with and participate in the convos in here, even though I do feel these are important issues.

Anyways, I hope each person does their own research of the candidates before just believing what is coming from the media or social media or their friends or one site or other candidates. Look personally into them and their stances and their proven records. And then decide. And be thankful that we can do that and have the freedom to vote (unless you're in a primary in Colorado. 😜)

Take care, volnation. God bless you and America. Go Cruz! And Go Vols!

What Colorado voters don't remember is that they voted to give up the right to have their vote count in order to legalize marijuana :)

Because there is abosolutely no new information or anything else to discuss. If you want to bump a thread have something worth discussing, not just "secund page hurts much feelins"

Ok, I personally think this was one the best lot of candidates to choose from in a Republican primary in along time. I hear a lot of you think it stinks, so I'm curious, who is it that each of you wish was running?

Yoda

But seriously, this field is much better than the previous two even though that still isn't saying much about their quality
