In 2015 & 2016 our overall 9-4 record is a 3 way tie for the 8th best overall record for Tennessee football in the last 20 years.

The 2015 SEC record tied with 2006 as the 8th best conference performance in the last 20 years while the 2016 SEC record tied Kiffin's 2009 record for 12th best in the last 20 years.

Yeah that's about what I figured. As a whole, last year was about as disappointing as it gets even if the record was technically 8th overall.

And yet we have a coaching staff that continues to believe playing Colton Jumper more than Daniel Bituli gives us a better chance to win.

This alone should be a fireable offense when it comes to Butch Jones. Beyond all his other bad decisions and terrible coaching.

Its inexcusable that Colton Jumper gets more snaps than Daniel Bituli. INEXCUSABLE.

247s talent composite done before the season this year takes attrition into account. They look at the current roster and count the players by what they were ranked coming out of his high school.

We ranked 12th in the country this year in terms of the composite ranking. Clemson was 9th last year. But beyond just a ranking, you have to look at the points because it gives you a closer approximation of the difference in talent cause one team can be ranked 12th and another 9th and the gap can be miniscule. If you look at the points, the difference between Tennessee this year and Clemson last year was miniscule. A difference of less than 30 points. Compare that to Alabama who was almost 150 points ahead of Clemson yet Clemson beat Alabama.

I know you wanna believe we lack talent cause you got some thing for Butch Jones but its simply not supported by the facts. The recruiting rankings say we have plenty of talent and should be a lot better. We just have a terrible head coach that is holding us back. Much like Brady Hoke held back Michigan before Harbaugh arrived.

We need to find our Harbaugh we be can get this team to play up to their ability. Which is being a national title contender.

Gentlemen, ladies, and Catbone, we are 2 days away from beating the piss out of the #7 team in the country. Can we let some of the frustration go and get behind the team for such a big game? We have a coach right now, it'll work itself out, regardless.

We've all seen enough UT football by now to know that we could come out and lay a beat down - or even the opposite. Either way the game will go on.

One of my favorite things about football season is coming to VN and talking about the games and the optimism. It sucks to know we've all waited so long for the season and then to see even the best posters get dragged down and sucked into insufferability (new word?).

We are ranked 12th this year. Not 14th. And more important than the spot, look at the number.

Our total is 817. Clemson last year was 846. Very close. Definitely a lot closer than the 982 points Alabama had as the #1 team that Clemson ultimately beat.

Once again you can't take these numbers too seriously. They are only good as a rough estimate. On paper we have ROUGHLY the same talent level as Clemson had last year. Not exactly the same but close enough that being 8-4 every year isn't an acceptable benchmark.

Same ole stuff he's done every year...makes these comments to lower expectations because he knows he can't win a championship here...let alone 10 wins in a year.

That's cause they signed a lot of players in other years. Everyone has the same 85 scholarship limit.

The truth is they had recruiting classes in 2013 and 2014 that were in the late teens. Those underrated classes in terms of the recruiting rankings formed the core of their championship roster in 2016. Their 2015 and 2016 were ranked in the top 5-10 but those guys were underclassmen/depth players last year.

Just goes to show that even with the relatively low ranking in the composite talent rankings, the core of the Clemson's championship team last year actually came from their classes in 2013 and 2014 that weren't actually that highly rated when they signed.

I have a feeling our 2016 and 2017 classes will play out like Clemson's 2013 and 2014 signing classes. They'll end up better than their rankings.

But Jumper can continue to miss tackles and he'll keep staying on the field.

To these coaches, a mental mistake is worse than a physical mistake. Which is sad because great athleticism can make up for mental errors. A lack of physical ability to make plays can't be saved no matter how good you know the playbook.

I wish Butch Jones could understand this.

Didn't we do finish in the top 5-10 a ridiculous amount of times from 1995-2004. I don't think Clemson has been at that level quite as long as we were in the mid to late 90s to the early 2000s.

Interesting you guys picking his words apart but you aren't even applying them the way he said it.

I find it extraordinary that the last 2 years have resulted in more wins than the 2 years right after the national title.
