This is all true, but I'm convinced that some of those fans don't necessarily even dislike Butch. They just like being part of the whole "woe is me" Vols fan crowd on Twitter (and even on here).
You see it in other fanbases as well. Sports losses are hard to stomach, especially when you're a diehard fan of a team. So people adopt this jaded, depressed, and negative persona in order to protect themselves from inevitable defeats, and then they associate with other people who have the same persona. There are about 10 happy fanbases at the end of most CFB seasons and maybe 3 in the NFL (SB team and a couple of teams that previously sucked and showed some promise). So almost all happy and optimistic fans get their hearts ripped out at some point during any given season. But the down-in-the-dumps, FAHR THE COACH fans get to be smug and say "I told you so" when things go south.
