That's your response? No logic at all. You're totally right man, what was I thinking?

Shoops has complete control of the defense. Installed a special package for a gimmick offense. Played a vanilla game against a lesser team before the conference opener. You wanted logic, but I lose because you think you have replied to a unfounded observation. Peace. Sometimes logic doesn't help.

I want to know, when will we be Elite under Butch Jones?

I'm being 100% genuine when asking this. Who is a (realistic) better replacement on the market? What coach out there could we get to replace would be an obvious improvement. Florida and Georgia could only pull McElwain and Smart with the same amount or program prestige (or whatever you'd like to call it) and better recruiting home states.

Man, nobody's ever brought this up before.

But seriously, UGA was salivating over Smart. It was kinda creepy.

This is my hope too. I really except us to show what a Snoop defense with top talent can do.

It just seems to me that some are making predictions without looking at past results. To this point, we haven't seen one of these top 10 defensive units Shoop has coached. I gave the guy every ample opportunity to prove to me how good he is. I even gave him a break last year when we were destroyed with injuries. I'm trying to be an objective observer. What I have seen thus far is a subpar defense.

You talked to Shoop about this?

Jury's still out this year of course but if we do indeed go 7-5 or 8-4 I'll know all I need to know. I said before the season that this year will be a tell all for Butch. Now if we can pull a 9-3 or 10-2 type regular season, I'll be on the train. Show me.

So, you're on the train at 9-3, regardless of who pins the three losses on us? I now hope even more that we get there just to see how you react. I think you find a poster who thinks like you do and you all feed each other back and forth. You have made a few good points, but you are running some of these comments straight to China. Show me.

Bingo. Unless you know you have a homerun hire locked up, I don't want another unknown.

Fail.

Just messing with you. I have a hard time sometimes, especially at work. I never know which gifs will get blocked and which ones won't.

Fyp.
This is how I feel too. Keeping it vanilla on D as well not to give anything away. We've heard all along the D is far ahead of O.

Also feeling the same goes for Callaway touches too. They know what they have, and don't need to showcase it. Possibly same for Chandler and Kelley as a 1-2 punch!

I don't know. He may not ever. I just think we should let him fail before we fire him.

The problem is, the definition of "fail" isn't universal. Is it if the program slips to Dooley levels? Well, unless it falls that far really fast, someone in the AD isn't doing their job if it gets to that point. While an 8-4 record is pretty good, is there a certain amount of years where we don't get above that that means he's failing? 3? 5? Retirement? I suspect the consensus is somewhere between Dooley and 8-4 a few years in a row, but only a very few people's definition matters.

I usually wouldn't ever type this but just in this case, LOL. I wasn't actually trying to post the gif, I'm on my phone and was just trying to portray my intent.

The attrition from the 2014 class has really hurt that IMO. Along with questionable player development and recruiting that took a step back in 2016 (not including 2017 for depth purposes), we aren't as deep as I thought.

It shouldn't take 10 years to build a deep football team.

Yeah. What sucks is the places worst hit by attrition, injury, and lack of development (in the 2015 class, at least) seem to be all along the front 7.

2014 DL and LB recruits who didn't pan out for us:

DL
Lost Cory Thomas (now a contributoer at DT at MSU) and brought in Sawyers (who had a bad head on his shoulder and was gone in less than 2 semesters.

Lost Dewayne Hendrix (starter at Pitt) to transfer.

Charles Mosely moved to OL, got buried on the depth chart, and transferred

Joe Henderson academic casualty

Dimarya Mixon's transfer this spring was understandable, but he'd likely have been 4th man up on at DE and given us some needed depth/experience there.

DB was a generational type DE for us though. Great job there.

LB
Neiko Creamer was a LB, then a TE, now at EKU.

Jakob moved to TE

Gavin Bryant never seemed to put it together and transferred

Dillon Bates is still all potential as a R-JR

McDowell (recruited as a safety) has probably been the best of the bunch so far

Elliot Berry will never be all conference. He might have some big plays left in him as a backup or on STs before he's done though.

2015 DL and LB (mostly injury related issues):

DL

Phillips and Tuttle: Both have flashed immense potential, but missed a lot of time each season due to injuries. Hoping they avoid the bug this season. Would likely mean good things for the defense

Butcher: Medical casualty

KMac: Promising, though out of shape as a freshman. Slow start in 2016, but was builing some steam before an injury ended his season.

DT: Great pickup so far so good

Picou: Seems to be coming along well enough. Gonna have a chance to establish himself this season/next season. Hasn't really flashed yet, but I'm not ready to write him off.

LB
Sapp: Has appeared in about 6-7 games. Season ending injuries first quarter of both 2015 and 2016

Kirkland: Injury bug hitting him hard past two seasons

Smith: Promising freshman season, redshirt due to injury in 2015, now injured again (severity unknown)

So, IDK what I'm getting at really.

All things considered the 2014 class has lost most of it's luster looking back if we're looking at the front 7 (though, again, we did get DB, which was spectacular).

The 2015 class seems to be mostly bad luck with injuries holding it back.

I just wish we'd left some more room in the 2016 a few more HS DL.
