I still can't get someone, even Butch's biggest fans, to say that when he was hired 5 seasons of 5-7, 6-6, 8-4, 8-4, 8-4 would have been acceptable. If we don't win the East this year it is obvious we never will with him. Georgia's not going anywhere, South Carolina is going to be a serious problem and Florida won't deal with an underperforming coach.

Jury's still out this year of course but if we do indeed go 7-5 or 8-4 I'll know all I need to know. I said before the season that this year will be a tell all for Butch. Now if we can pull a 9-3 or 10-2 type regular season, I'll be on the train. Show me.

You're right on. People see 42-7 and stop there. Against Indiana State, Tennessee should be completely overwhelming them physically in the trenches. That didn't happen and it's concerning. It's early, but through two games they just don't look physically tough enough to win more than 7 or 8 games. 7 or 8 games in year 5 at Tennessee is not good enough.
This just isn't true. Both our lines whipped their lines. Our OL had some missed assignments that looked worse than what they were, but it wasn't lack of being physically dominant.

I would rather see shoop be out of control with blitzes than what I have seen this far. Send the damn house man! Let's see the boys play, not react. If you are reactive instead of proactive in defensive football, you have already lost the game.

I just wonder if it's Butch that's holding Shoop back. Shoop's defenses were known for attacking people and forcing a lot of TO's. He's had more athletes here than he's ever had before and all that has been non existent. Makes no sense to me.

We didn't need to be blitzing ISU. Now I wasn't happy with the GT defense. We will see the next few weeks.

Chief, maybe it is the exotic offenses we have seen thus far. Maybe, just maybe, he is playing vanilla the first 2 games of the season. I don't understand what I have seen thus far. All I know is it's very worrisome to this point how we have taken a reactionary style of defense against inferior opponents, namely Indiana. We will get dismantled against teams with similar talent if we continue our current defensive game plan. I was a huge fan of the Shoop hire in the beginning. Something has changed though, it's like he isn't even controlling the defense anymore.

And Florida knows nothing about what this defense is capable of or looks like with the play-book opened up. Go figure. 2-0.
