Honest question: do you think we targeted players that would develop into solid contributors by their junior season? Is that what CBJ meant by his "depth class" comments.
Thought this was fun to look at - article on 247 showing every 5* prospect signed by UT:
1. Bryce Brown (RB) - 2009
2. Eric Berry (S) - 2007
3. Gerald Riggs Jr. (RB) - 2002
4. Kahlil McKenzie (DT) - 2015
5. Michael Munoz (OT) - 2000
6. Jabari Davis (RB) - 2001
7. Demetrice Morley (CB) - 2005
9. Brandon Jeffries (OG) - 2002
10. O.J. Owens (S) - 2000
11. Da'Rick Rogers (WR) - 2010
12. Trey Smith (OT) - 2017
13. Kevin Simon (LB) - 2001
14. Jason Respert (C) - 2000
15. Casey Clausen (QB) - 2000
16. Robert Meachem (WR) - 2003
17. Sean Young (OG) - 2000
17. James Banks (QB) - 2002
17. Cedric Houston (RB) - 2001
20. Ben Martin (DE) - 2007
21. Ja'Wuan James (OT) - 2010
22. Demonte Bolden (DT) - 2004
23. Derrick Tinsley (RB) - 2001
Note that I skipped #8 because it was Cade Mays who is in the 2018 class and hasn't even signed with UT. I also considered excluding Trey Smith for the same reason but gave in since he is in the current class.

I like the build up strategy for linemen and maybe LB, TE, FB. Skill positions I want the elite talent. You can't coach fast or tall.Yes. As of last year their metric changed from recruiting guys that could provide more immediate benefit to those who they feel have longer term benefit. Welton specifically stated that more than once.
And it is an interesting perspective. Is a fifth year senior more benefit than a three and done hotshot?

Why can't a guy have both immediate impact & long term benefit? Don't understand why they're mutually exclusive.
What happens if we have another ridiculous number of injuries but all of these guys were brought in to contribute 2-3 years down the road?
