So, again, what is the latest on the athletics director’s search? It’s a two-man battle between Chattanooga’s David Blackburn and UT assistant Jon Gilbert, per all we know.

It’s still widely held to be Blackburn’s job as the runaway leader, with folks saying, "I’m not sure Vegas would put a line of this one."

Gilbert, however, could be in position to claim his own top spot sooner than later. It’s a situation to continue monitoring. But as one person apprised of goings-on throughout said late Tuesday night, “I like Jon. A lot. But why get rid of Dave if you’re going with Gilbert?”

There remain strong indications the post should be filled before Christmas, though some have suggested that’s mere speculation and that New Year's remains more feasible. Regardless, UT needs a permanent leader and in a hurry.

As one BCS-conference, senior-level employee relayed to 247Sports within the past week about Blackburn, “Tennessee better hire David Blackburn. He’s one of the greatest men I’ve ever worked for.”

Among the potential plans for Neyland Stadium, as we’ve noted, are possible ground-floor, glass-enclosed suites. Likewise coming in the relatively near future are long-overdue enhancements and renovations to the Thornton Athletics Student Life Center, which has seen its staff directly impact the positive growth in overall improved academic numbers from UT student-athletes. That building could see those modifications taking place starting in approximately six months.

"Butchie I'm telling you, I found my bigger, faster, stronger VHS tapes from back in the day. We don't need a strength coach, we can just play them on a continuous loop in the weight room. Honestly, we both know this strength coach nonsense is just a fad, it ain't gonna last."

When a 3* recruit chooses another school over UT it is like killing a trophy buck after spending weeks in the woods for the LofM posters.

3* commit with decent offer list = doe
3* commit with a questionable offer list = spike
Missing on a 4* recruit to a lesser program = buck
Missing on a 3* recruit to a lesser program = Trophy Buck

Just wanted to follow up Lynx Posts' with these tidbits from DeerPark and LWS in the football forum about DB.

DeerPark post:

I'm sorry, but that's just not accurate. The situation he inherited at Chattanooga may not have been a total dumpster fire, but he was dealt a very difficult deck when he arrived at Chattanooga.

Their finances were in shambles, as were some of their facilities. They were way behind other Southern Conference schools in donations, facilities and support for student-athletes. Blackburn made those things his first priority and it allowed his programs to have the success that they are currently enjoying. Being an AD is much more than coaching hires, it's also about things like giving those coaches the resources to succeed.

Yes, Huesman was already there when Blackburn arrived. But it wasn't until Blackburn arrived and gave him more resources that he made the playoffs a year later in 2014. That was, by the way, UTC's first playoff appearance since 1984. They've gone back each of the next two years, and have won three SoCon titles in Blackburn's tenure.

The basketball successes have been noted everywhere. The 2015-16 season saw the Mocs become the first in the more than 100-year history of the Southern Conference win the football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball championships in the same year. UTC also won titles in volleyball and wrestling, while leading the SoCon in attendance in football and men’s and women’s basketball for the second year in a row.

The bottom line is that he took a middling UTC program and made it easily the best total athletics program in the Southern Conference.

Followed by LWS response:

might be the best total athletics program in the state right now..

"Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and I'd like to take a minute just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the Swim Captain in a town called Ann Arbor.

In west Munchie Indiana born and raised
Outside the poolhouse was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
Taking some laps outside in the pool
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said, "You're movin' with your buddy Butch in Knoxville Tn"

It's not argumentative, it presumes no outcome, it does not make anybody wrong. In short it is not a beating. I have looked again this morning. Still no word on Cam.

Much betterer. :)

Didn't know Freak was running a socialist site over here, where we're not allowed to have differing opinions.

Y'all commies better enjoy your christmas movies (whether they're entertaining or not) while you can before they start censoring what you can watch.

Heil Big Orange!

What the Heil are you talking about?
