OK I just went over and checked the Cam Akers thread. I am not sure what is going on over there but I could find no evidence of any public commitment to play football for the Vols conveyed there this morning.

Ya, and on top of it he was a former Wake player. Leave it to Petrino to leave copies of the plays in the Wake visitors locker room to tip them off. I wonder if the guy sings how much trouble petrino will get in?

Oh goodness, Bobby P making a mess again. Guess the guy really wants a show cause.

That is so wrong. :)

Sure there are plenty of 3* out there that have a ton of upside and potential that can turn into great college players, but statistically you have a great chance of competing for championships with 4-5* players across the board... you certainly can't make the case for a team full of 3* this day and age making it to the playoff.... We all know that developing the 3* to their full potential is the key, and that begins with the coaches, and we know that this has been a big issue at UT the past few years with kids coming in and not progressing and being developed to their full potential... IMO, with the current staff in place, we cannot expect to get to the next level with a team full of 3*..........

Yep.

Meanwhile we are having this discussion and...

Alabama on the verge of its best recruiting class ever under Nick Saban

Blazing saddles, funniest movie of all time and don't try to argue about it.

OK. I'll talk on the pre-bowl recruiting dead time level for a bit. Whether Jones is retained or not if he can sustain or improvement with out dropping down into 6-6 territory we will have a very strong signal that a solid foundation for the program will have been lain. That's significant. OK, do you guys mind if I still keep an eye on the Cam Akers recruitment?

With all the discussion about the S&C staff, I thought is was interesting that Kiffin's first hire at FAU was the Bama assistant S&C coach. A good S&C coach is certainly the foundation of a good program. Once the AD is in place, I think the open S&C position will be the first position to be filled.

SIAD: Did anyone catch the Wake Forest story? There were questions when they played Louisville about how Louisville knew what they were running. The University did an investigation and their radio guy was selling their game plan that opposing teams I guess. I caught the tail end, but this was pretty much what they found from what I heard.

Such a strange situation. Not only was he the radio guy that had been granted complete access to the program but he was also a former player and he also coached at wake forest for a number of years leading up to this. When Clawson was hired in 2014 he wasn't retained on the new staff. Sounds like he was mad about that so he sabotaged Clawson. You can't trust anyone these days.

S&C is most critical position outside of HC. It was truly amazing how Butch butchered that this season. The difference was obvious

While Larry Scott missed out on the Florida Atlantic head job, and we’re told LSU does not eye Robert Gillespie, those guys are commodities almost able to set their price in places.

No one is going to be able to leverage many jobs left out there as Notre Dame, Florida, Ole Miss and others have identified their top targets for coordinator spots, but Gillespie and Scott nonetheless are arguably Tennessee’s two most in-demand assistants. Until his staff is fully filled out, new Cincy coach Luke Fickell kicking the tires on Zach Azzanni isn't to be entirely ruled out, college football sources familiar with both coaches indicated.

Bob Shoop could be in play at Richmond residually, but that job, as we already noted, belongs to Chattanooga coach Russ Huesman if he accepts the post. A decision is expected Wednesday.

And Shoop, per multiple sources, would not at all be a Chattanooga candidate.
