Im not arguing against talent, just pointing out that we haven't seen our 2016 starting safeties play as starters yet, so it seems natural for people to be a little less certain about what they'll bring to the table than guys we have seen.

I was more confident in TKjr than the starters last year. If he leads the conference in INTs I wouldn't be surprised. Kid has crazy instincts and makes big plays in the passing game.

When I watch Evan Berry play the thing that stands out the most to me is his straight line speed. He is the fastest guy on the field and there's no angle you can take to catch him once he's moving.

The second thing that stands out is #3.

Why is everyone so concerned with safety?

IMO its our deepest position. We're arguably 3-deep with quality starters.

Gaulden/Kelly
Abernathy/Berry
Warrior/Griffin

I feel more comfortable with these 6 guys than I did with Randolph and McNeil.

We're good at safety.

In all honesty, I'm really not that concerned about any position group. We are extremely talented and deep in all positions. The reason I put safety in the bottom group is because TKjr is the only one that's played meaningful snaps back there, so I'm not sure exactly what we have when it's game time with the the others. However, with Martinez and Shoop coaching them, I'm still not worried. The one position where depth concerns me most is MLB...what happens if Kirkland gets hurt? We all know Jumper isn't capable unless he improves drastically.

They didn't know. They didn't know about #29. The SEC knows about #29, but they didn't. 10 other players that QB could have "pitched" the ball to and he chose the worst one to pitch it to. Evan Berry has the speed of a Devin Hester and the slashing ability of a Gale Sayers.

Because it seems that idiots want to make this site impossible to navigate. I want to read news about a recruit and instead I'm reading arguments about the comparison between Evan Berry and Percy Harvin...

If there were nothing but news on recruits posted. This place would be dead. Is it that hard to scroll. I hate it that your wittl bitty tum hurts so much from having to scroll and skim....And your brilliant criticism just added to the clutter. As did this smart-alecky reply.

We appreciate your contribution. Apparently you've not participated in many grown up conversations. You can leave any time you want.

Just wish he would stop falling down the instant he picks off a pass. Could have walked into the end zone vs OU off one of his INTs.

TK has really impressed me defending the pass. At times his tackling has left me skeptical though. Hopefully him playing more of a true FS under Shoop will benefit his skill set.

We've seen TK the last 2 years as basically a third starter and IMO he was better than both Randolph and McNeil. Then you have Gaulden who has been praised to the rooftops by the coaches.

I'm confident that safety won't be an issue. In fact it'll be one of our biggest strengths.

Gaulden, Taylor, and Smith are essentially secret weapons on defense at this point. Really excited to see what they can do on the field this year. You could probably add Kyle Phillips to that group as well, provided he can stay healthy.

Also think that Kongbo will be a beast by the time we hit the South Carolina->Vandy stretch. I don't expect much from him early in the year, but once the schedule eases up a bit and he gets more comfortable in the system, I'm sure the coaches will want to get him as much playing time as possible to prepare for 2017.

I agree with you on Kongbo, but man would it be incredible if he could come in immediately and play at high level.

Barnett, Vereen, Phillips, and Kongbo in the two deep?

Good grief.

For the all reasons above, I'm not worried about the safeties. We have tons of talent. I'm more concerned with our DT depth mostly due to the unknowns of Tuttle and Johnson.

Good grief. How nice is it to be reading about depth charts and what not and think "Oh yeah, Kyle Phillips, Austin Smith, etc... forgot about them"?

This fall is gonna be something.

Hey guys,

Just got back from a cruise. Turned off my phone last Sunday morning. Anything happen this week?

I'm gonna say it...I might get flamed for it but....Vereen will put up similar numbers to Barnett this year.

I don't know why you would get flamed. It's a bold prediction, sure. If anyone is primed for a senior breakout, its Corey Vereen. Most of the attention will be focused away from him on Barnett. High motor guy like him could make a splash this year.
