Just curious. IMO, it is pretty difficult to fire him if he ends up with 9 wins this year. He inherited a mess, and I am still not sure future coaches would want to take a job where his predecessor clearly improves and gets fired.

I had thought about this scenario before the season. I said that I would be disappointed if we didn't get to Atlanta, but barring a collapse, it doesn't mean he should be fired. I have no issue with him being on the proverbial hot seat.

He will suffer on the recruiting trail now. Kids were told he was going to get canned over the Title IX lawsuit and now they will be told he's on the hot seat/can't develop top players/can't compete for championships. PW and JH transferring is also bad fodder.

He's not great but he's the class of the East by a long shot.

Unlike Butch, he actually has an offensive identity and knows how to call plays and develop QBs. Will be interesting to see how he fares without an elite defense, though. His recruiting is headscratching thus far.

Mac being the class of the east is like being the tallest midget lol

I agree. His recruiting has not been very good and he loses Muschamp's defense that has carried them so far in his tenure.

I think next year we see a pretty big drop off. That offense hasn't been impressive, which was supposed to be his calling card.

For the record, the media that covers UT daily does not go easy on them. You want to see that go to Bama.

The media here is a bunch of babies.

You pay the buyout and go hire Petrino now.

Look at the coaches in the east, there isn’t one good one. This is Tennessee’s 1990’s era. Fire him now, and get a proven winner.

Butch Jones will never win a SEC championship.

This is Tennessee’s time and we are letting it slip away.

Go tell Petrino I’m going to pay you $8 million a year and you are going to kick the **** out of these terrible SEC East coaches for the next decade.

Bama's media is legitimately scared of Saban. I mean, you can hear fear and apprehension in their voices when they ask even remotely "tough" questions at press conferences, and he can basically kibosh any uncomfortable questions with a quick, stern response. It's kind of amazing.

If he can keep this class together, he will have talent to win for a year or two. If he can't win during that time, then he probably isn't the answer anyway. Success this year could have snowballed into more elite talent, but he still has a window to win some important games in the next two years.

Idk it's a tough decision. I just think it's obvious he's not s championship caliber coach.

LSU just fired a guy that averages 10+ wins a season and is always in the top 10. We should hold our program to the same standard jmo.

Don't disagree, but he won like that for a long time. We're just now coming out of perpetual .500 seasons.

Meyer doesn't appease players? Have you forgotten the dumpster Florida was when he left? Players not happy with how Harvin didn't have to do anything he didn't want to do. The TE that is now in prison for murder, Meyer got him out of trouble when he decked some bouncer at a local club.

Saban maybe. Florida was not in great shape when Meyer left for supposedly health reasons and wanting to spend more time with family. That lasted until OSU came calling..

He left them with a loaded defense and 2 rings. Remember that D-line that terrorized us for years. They were his guys.

Meyer players may have off the field issues but they are all in on the football field.
