Yes sir, they need to leave if they get that grade. As soon as you're injured or have a mishap there goes your football livelihood. Make as much money as you can while you can. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

That's the reality, but as fans we all want to see them wear orange for one more year.

Hubbs did say Cam has a set grade he would need to see or he will be back, but didn't say what it was. Sounds like Cam has a pretty definitive plan.

He's a smart kid. Pharmacy major. I bet he stays if he doesn't get at least a 2nd round grade.

JRM is coming back. Even if he had an all-american season, his ceiling as a prospect is the 2nd round. LaVonta David had huge numbers his senior year at Nebraska and still went in the 2nd round because he was undersized as a LB.

I think both cam and jrm stay.

After seeing the latest mock drafts I'd have to agree. Cam fell from mid-1st round before the season to late 2nd/early 3rd now. JRM even if he had an all-american season would be no better than a 2nd round prospect.

I think both get 3rd round grades and come back.

JRM can run under a 4.6, he's going High.

He's every bit as good as a Ryan Shazier and as big as him when he came out of college.

This isn't the same NFL where coming out of school at 255lb LBs is the norm.

A lot of specialization

Especially now in the Age of Nickle

I hope you are wrong but you are usually spot on. Austin Smith has looked good in his time on the field but JRM would be tough to replace

Smith is a strong side linebacker. Cortez McDowell and Dillon Bates will be the ones battling for his position and I'm ok with that.

I am all for the guys that feel they need to go. Big money and fulfilling dreams that changes lives is too much to pass on IMO. The selfish part of me wants them back because they are great Vols and would help the program win the SEC next season. However, Butch has stocked the roster with studs, so it will not be like it was just a couple of years ago.

While it would by no means come close to replacing them on the field, guys like JRM and Sutton getting high draft spots would have a long term benefit of giving this coaching staff a couple of high draft picks they can point to in recruiting. (And FWIW, I think both guys are going to be in the league for quite some time).

Just trying to find the bright side if they both go.

Shazier is 6'1" 237 lbs. and an absolute freak athlete. Remember he ran a 4.38 at the combine.

I love JRM and think he can be a great NFL player but he's not in Shazier's class athletically. Plus Shazier is an inch taller and 12 lbs heavier.

JRM's best pro comparison is Lavonta David. Similar size. David stayed 4 years. Was a all-american his senior year. Yet for drafted in the 2nd because of his size.

May have had better measurables, but I think JRM is the better football player. His instincts are ridiculous.

They changed the NFL grading system for underclass men before last year. There are only 3 possible "grades":

1st round
2nd round
Go back to school (more or less)

It's crazy that if they don't go pro then that would be the second year in a row no Vols are drafted.

Thanks Dooley. And Obama.

I swear I think Williams and/or Kerbyson will get a late round shot.

Williams might, but Kerbyson will not.

And JRM has been the best player on this defense all year, by far. Dude is the better NFL prospect compared to Cam right now. I'd be surprised if they are both back, and I've thought Cam would be gone all year.

Voice of Doom in my head..."If they go...Your boys aren't winning a champeenship next year"...I mean I like to think we could absorb those losses, but what happened in the first few games this year at LB and CB, leaves me with a bad feeling about new starters at those spots as far as a championship run. Not to mention unknowns in at least one safety spot. I mean c'mon guys it's not like the Defense was exactly stout this year...Oh well it's a long way away. Wish the best for Cam and JRM both. They've done their part.

I compare JRM to Danny Trevathan of the Broncos

Danny T was small and iirc not drafted highly, but is a solid NFL player

Being saying this since before the season. Teams want 3 down LBs. The days of Ray Lewis and Pat Willis size LB have passed.
