Recruiting Forum Football Talk XXII

IF we win the last 4 games by an average of 21pts+ do you all think we will be ranked before the bowl at 8-4? I certainly think we will.

If we win the bowl we 100% will be, just trying to decide if it will take till after a possible bowl win or not.

Really would like to finish the season ranked for the first time since 2007.

Received points in this weeks poll, I would think so

For recruiting purposes, I hope to see UGA lose to Kentucky and Georgia Tech and beat Auburn to keep them out of a bowl.

I was/am shocked by how big the line is in the UK/UGA game. I think UK has a really good chance of beating them. Noticed that the opening line of UGA -17 is already down to -14.

What classifies as an in-betweener?

Somebody who doesn't start looking for people to fire or for places to build new statues based on the outcome of the most recent game. And I'm not talking about the emotional turbulence directly after - that's people blowing off steam, I get that. It's the people who cool off and are STILL over-the-top high or low that I don't understand.

Well the Knoxville QB club luncheon was a little disappointing. John Cooper (who happens to be my second cousin) is a very nice guy. Hadn't seen him in several years, probably since his mother's funeral 15-20 years ago. His speech was all Buckeye. Got nauseating at times. Gave the Vols little or know props. Talked about Urban Meyer as if he was a God. Said he and Nick Saban were the two best coaches in college football. Here's a few highlights:

Best stadium in America: OSU
Best game day pageantry: OSU
Top Coaching Jobs: 1. USC, 2. Texas, 3. OSU, 4. Alabama, 5. LSU. Did say UT was a top ten job.
Best facilities: OSU, Laughed when he said they had multiple strength coaches and even a nutrutionist. Also said they were on the cutting edge of technology because their players had trackers in their jerseys. (LOL)

Johnny Majors was there and of course he had to chime in saying that Tennessee was not a top ten job. Said that LSU,FL,GA,AL were all better than Tennessee. He needs to limit his public commentary IMO.

Best part of the gig was Coach Gillespie. He talked about all the running backs and took questions. Someone asked him about Fils-Aime and he he said he couldn't talk about commitments. He did say he loved really good running backs though which got a big laugh.

They also honored Anthony Hancock. Talked to him, he's a nice dude.

Sounds awful.

Since we're talking about next year and about players leaving early, Do you think Hurd jumps after next year, knowing that fournette will be going then too and also Chubb, assuming he makes 100% recovery?

I think he probably will leave early, and that he could possibly be drafted above Chubb (please don't hurt me Catbone). Hurd's pass pro is elite

Hurd is definitely a NFL back. He should finally have a capable O-Line next year, and I think he leaves after a big Junior Year.

Just posted a small portion of this in the FF, but wanted to share with you all as well:

IMO its really embarrassing that state schools with agriculture programs/majors/departments can't maintain a grass football field. For example, Kentucky, You're the "Bluegrass" state for crying out loud, yet you play on turf!!

If you look around the Big Ten Conference, nearly all of their schools have gone to turf fields. Some of those (Iowa, Ohio State, Nebraska, etc.) are some of the most agriculture rich and driven states in the country. In the SEC, you mean to tell me you can't grow grass in Missouri and at Ole Miss!?

The game should be played outdoors, and on grass whenever practicable (you're off the hook Syracuse). I'm willing to be somewhat lenient on really cold weather areas where it may be hard to keep grass alive once the calendar turns (Boston College), or in places where it doesn't rain much (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico). But if you are a mid-western or Southern state school with an agriculture program, you should be embarrassed to have to play on turf.

Sorry for :horse: but what's this Drew Richmond talk?

I'd figure we could pencil him in as a starter at LT in spring.

Are you a John Deere salesman by any chance?

Of course we should finish the season. But this is a fan forum. Sure the players can't overlook the rest of the year. But we as fans can.

The national title talk isn't that outrageous considering we're a 4th and 14 stop from being in Atlanta this year with so many freshmen and sophomores as key contributors.

The team has a bright future. Stop trying to rain on the parade.

Stop trying to rain on the parade? lol... you don't do well with people disagreeing with you, do you?

I agree that the team has a bright future. Never said it doesn't. But in my opinion, expecting a (hopefully) 8-4 team to compete for a championship the next year is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

If there were indeed a parade, I wouldn't be raining on it. But again... we're probably the best 4-4 team in the country by a wide margin, but we're still 4-4.

Geez, it took me forever, but I think I got it in here now...the replay of the Moseley play.

If Richmond goes down, I could see them moving Hall to LT and putting Kendrick at RT.

We really really need our OTs to stay healthy. Im still surprised they didn't try a JUCO OT again. But we do have a ton of Gaurds. Maybe we'll move a few around in the spring

I think Smart has been rooted in Tuscaloosa to build a case for replacing Saban someday. If he made a move to Georgia, I don't think Pruitt would work for him. Most likely replace him at Bama and ironically be in position to...succeed Saban. :). College football can be fun even when there are no games.

This might sound crazy, but I have a large family base in Birmingham that really gives me heck about Bama beating us repeatedly. Their take is that Saban moves to AD on retirement and they think Kiffin would get the HC job before Smart.

His star has slipped in the last few years for sure.

They were hiding their jealousy and envy for Kiffin when he was at UT. They love his play calling and pretty much blame last year's loss to OSU on defense. This year they blame the defense again for their 1 loss to Ole Miss. Guess they are unaware of the offense's 5 turnovers in the same game.
