Oh, I see.

The problem I had was that it was so obviously misinterpreted. It wasn't intended as a sign of disrespect (the way Vandy says "the team to the East" or Mississippi Stare says "the school up north"), it was intended to keep our team from pissing their pants and beating themselves just because they were playing ALABAMA.

Jones shouldn't have said it, but not because it was disrespectful. He shouldn't have said it because interpreting it correctly would have required a modicum of reading comprehension and just a moment of intelligent thought, both of which are far too much to expect from Alabamans.

I disagree with this.

I think Bama fans still bring it up because it puts us in our place, and rubs this in our face. We are still the team that sees bama as some impossible task. It's embarrassing that this method was used.

As a college athlete, if our rival school referred to us as the Orange team, id bring that up for years. "Remember how terrified of us they were?? They couldn't even say our schools name". It would be a constant running joke.

Way overblown. You find ways to motivate your kids, and one thing that Butch Jones can do is motivate his players. He weathered the storm this year when even his own fans thought it was coming to an end.

I would rather be called the orange team than what some of those rednecks call us on message boards like 10RC or Viles. #getoverit

More to it, Crouch Potatoe...

@Vol_Football: AZZANNI: I think this is a great group of run blocking receivers. They take a lot of pride in that. https://t.co/SFF32xBPsv

I'm torn. We should take pride in catching balls, but the QB should do a better job getting them the ball, but the QB should have more opportunities to throw, but.. but but but. Idk this team has all the components of being great. Injuries did us in this year.

If true, perhaps Dormady wants to transfer someplace that will throw the ball 50-60 times per game and he realizes that will never be the case under CBJ.

Dormady knew the offense he was signing up for. Butch Jones has had two QBs pass for 3000 plus yards in a season. Just because Dobbs isn't lighting it up through the air doesn't mean it isn't possible to generate a lot of passing yards in this offense.

Debord and Jones are playing to the strength of this team and this QB. Up till just recently we looked terrible in pass protection and we're still at best mediocre. Dobbs is hit or miss in accuracy passing the ball down field and up to the last couple of games our WRs have struggled not only to get off press coverage but to make catches when the ball is delivered to them.

Our offense on the year is actually crazy balanced. It's like 415 yds a game, 210 rushing 205 passing per game. Its just gona get better now that we are through murderers row. Number 1 schedule through 7 weeks.

I am Very pleased with Debord

The only time I'm been unhappy with him was the 2nd halves of Oklahoma and Arkansas. He let his foot off the gas way too early against OU and the gameplan against the Hogs was pretty bad. No issues other than that. I thought the offensive gameplans were fantastic against Florida, Georgia and Alabama jmo

I can agree with that for sure although I was much more upset against Arkansas. He got away from the run way too much that game IMO but overall I think he's done a very solid job

The thing I like most about Debo is that when he finds a weakness on the opposing team, he will continue exploiting it until the opposing team makes changes. Well...except for the Arkansas game.

Yeah I think Hurd only had like 4 or 5 carries in the second half after gashing them in the first half. It's like he was trying to make a point by throwing so much I dunno.

Besides that, he does a good job of mixing up the play calls to keep the D reeling for the most part. That was Bajakians biggest weakness IMO. Drives would stall all the time when we had momentum because of trying to get too cute with bizarre play calls.

Hopefully he can keep making adjustments, because there's been a lot of times this season his game planning has cut through some pretty good defenses like a hot knife through butter.

In his defense I think Hurd had 3 catches for like 70 yds. And it seems like we only had the ball 4 or 5 times the whole second half. I'm sure it was more but not much.

That's true but we played right into their hands because the passing game was not clicking that night. We could not put together long drives in the second half which allowed the Hogs mammoth line to grind down our defense late.

He must not like the staff based on those comments. Haven't see post before of him saying stuff like that in the past but maybe I've missed them.

You know how kids are, maybe he's just venting. When the Hunter Johnson committed remember JG had a little freakout as well. I'm sure he wonders what might happen when JG comes in, "the new kid". He may of made a comment something along these lines, "If after the spring if I'm not the clear number two guy behind Dobbs, I may just transfer out. I'm sure TCU would love to have me".

You do realize it's Boro saying that, not Dormady, right? Boro is the one saying the staff has a ceiling.

After the Alabama game I was thinking about the coaching this year. I could be completely wrong on this, but I think a lot of what has happened is the coaches are learning to coach in the SEC.

This is really the first year we have had the talent to match up with teams(in most areas), so it really is the first year the coaches have had to coach like we are an SEC team.

I know it may sound crazy, but I think quite possibly, the coaches are learning too. Defensively, our game plans seem to be getting better. Offensively, (with the exception of Arky IMO) Debord has gotten better each week (something I don't think Jake could do).

It kind of stinks that in year 3 our coaches are just learning to coach in the SEC, but IMO the first 2 years were probably more about surviving.

Just a thought......

Debord actually tried to exploit Arkansas' weakness, too, but we couldn't execute. I had a text exchange with a friend, who said Arkansas had a good front 4. Their secondary is not good. I agree that you have to run Hurd more than 4 times, but PW fumbled inside the 10, Medley missed a short FG, and our passing game was off. He actually was trying to do the correct thing, but I don't think we attacked enough down the middle either. JMO.

The drops just killed us on nearly every drive too. I just feel like it was obvious that the passing game was out of whack and we should've went back to our bread and butter much earlier. I can't blame him for trying to take some shots on a bad secondary.

I think he fails miserably in the two min offense. JMO.
