Butch just needs to recruit his ass off and try not to let himself or his staff cause a loss on game day. I've seen mediocre coaches win it all with the right talent.

Yep - this is it. You need a competent system and decent play calling on both sides of the ball - but it doesn't have to be the best to win it all if you have the horses to get it done.

Suckled?

Hopefully no VOLS fan needs to use this one on NSD.

The Vols are having another terrific year recruiting under Butch Jones and are still hoping to add one more big fish to a class that already includes five-stars Alvin Kamara, Kyle Phillips and Kahlil McKenzie. The big name to watch heading into Signing Day is five-star Memphis (Tenn.) University school offensive tackle Drew Richmond. The nation's No. 12 overall prospect spent the weekend in Nashville and is now mulling his longtime commitment to Ole Miss or a potential flip to the in-state Vols. As Jones and his staff have shown, they're always capable of pulling off some recruiting surprises, and 2015 has been no different.

Yes you are absolutely correct on CBJ he is a complete DUMBAZZ!!!! The great coaches never make mistakes. They never call a play they wish they could take back in hindsight after it fails because they do not make the bad play calls.

Oh wait Coach Pete Carroll could not have just made a DUMBAZZ play call. He is a great coach and the defending SB coach. That pass that was intercepted was a great call from the 1 yard line with Lynch in the backfield.

420 every coach makes calls that are game changers. IF he hits that pass, game over Seahawks win most likely. BUT it is picked off and he will be second guessed for years to come because of it.

Saban and his field goal that turned into a touchdown for Auburn 2 years ago is another example.

Just relax my friend. First things first, we have to get a team full of SEC caliber player which we are close after this class. When we have player of that caliber it always a coaching staff to gamble more. Talent allows you to cover up the occasion screw up. When the talent is not deep enough you have to be perfect to win which is why we beat USCjr 2 years ago. This year talent allowed us to come back and win. Coaching the kids to play the whole game and never give up also is part of it. This year will be so-so. 2016 we will be in the thick of it for SEC and Natty. Just bear with it brother, we are on the upswing, WE ARE CLOSE RIGHT NOW JUST YOUNG.
Quit arguing with that guy and put him on ignore for all our sakes. He has nothing intelligent to add to any discussion. Same old crap no matter what.

best dl class – tennessee
we love clemson’s class. Throw in the outside linebackers and georgia’s class is ridiculous as well. Auburn and ole miss are trying to make a late push. But for the top defensive line class, give me tennessee. Kahlil mckenzie is the space eater inside, kyle phillips is the complete edge rusher, shy tuttle is an elite 3-technique and darrell taylor, andrew butcher and quay picou all have a chance to be difference makers as well.

best nose – kahlil mckenzie
mckenzie is heading to tennessee to play in john jancek’s 4-3 defense. He’s big enough and talented enough to play as a true freshman. He’s also good enough that he might inspire some odd fronts in knoxville for the next few years. Don’t be surprised at all to see tennessee become more multiple up front because of how good the five-star is at occupying blockers and pushing the line of scrimmage.

best every down defensive end – kyle phillips
with a 4.6 40 to his credit, tennessee early enrollee kyle phillips has dangerous speed off the edge as a third down pass rusher. At 6-4, 260 pounds, he also has the size to hold the edge as a first down defender or a short yardage defender. As an offensive tackle in high school who played both ways, he’s got the toughness and mental makeup to do it on every down as well. Phillips is a complete defensive end and will be a great complement to derek barnett.

Will UT Sports cover the NSD like they did last year? I'm assuming we will see the "war room" live as faxs come in. Should be 2-3 hours of pure excitement for VN.

Not certain about UTSports since ESPN will be broadcasting live for UT. But, I don't see why not. Unless ESPN doesn't want that to happen. I'm not a comm guru lol.

That's what I did last year. I was up early ready to go. Had the ESPNU coverage on the big screen. It was awesome.

You gonna be joining us all day on Wednesday, Darlin'? I took the day off this year because I had so much fun watching last year and my boss let it slide and allowed me to enjoy some of it while working. I wanted to do it right this time with some good beer in hand :)

I wouldn't miss it. Can't wait! Probably will be up early like I was last year. :)

Will there be a dedicated NSD thread for Wednesday?

Yeah, there was one last year because I remember posting the names of each recruit as their fax came in. For example: "Preston Williams is in!"

Pretty sure there will be one this year as well.
