You don't get to hire someone who can win championships when you just went 4-8 and your AD is the laughing stock of the whole country. You have to get there in stages, and the first one is 8-4 every year.

Eh, Brohm could stabilize things and get us to where we beat teams we should beat. Definitely not going to beat Mullen and Smart, but could get us to 8-4 and keep us there I'd think.

I'm not here proposing alternatives, because I know we may be too toxic to touch. But neither of those guys would win here. Brohm benefitted from following Taggart and Petrino at WKU, and I'm not sold on one year at Purdue. Martin simply isn't ready.

Also, I just wanna go on record with this now:

I'd been very vocal before about giving Currie a chance and seeing how this all plays out before grilling him too badly. I was critical of people who were critical of him earlier on in the football season.

To this point, he's proven that I was very wrong to give him a chance. The level of tone deafness it took to go after Schiano and try to deliver him to Knoxville the day after our worst season in history ended with a blowout loss to Vandy is INSANE. The fact that he couldn't understand that he'd lost some portion of the fanbase merely for not firing Butch quickly enough or that he couldn't forsee a huge backlash to a guy with (admittedly loose and questionably accurate) ties to the Sandusky tragedy coming off Butch Jones and a Title IX investigation is borderline malpractice.


Unless Currie somehow delivers a huge name like Petersen or Gruden out of the blue, I don't think he'll ever get my support back or earn the benefit of the doubt from me again. Half of me thinks we'd be better off firing him now, rolling with an Interim HC for a year, and letting the next AD conduct a year long coaching search.


This is beyond bad for Currie. Dude shouldn't be a D1 AD.

We had Dan Mullen, Scott Frost, Willie Taggart, Matt Campbell, and Chris Petersen reach out to us and we have an AD that settles for Schiano because of big Jim, goes to the Bahamas, and has now caused the fan base to not get us a good hire because we HAD TO STEP IN to stop an enabler of child molestation. It is hard to make this up.

Maybe this is our "Alabama gets Saban" moment. I'm not holding my breath though.

Well before today I'd have been firmly against the hiring of Tee Martin as head football coach. Now, I'm not. Get Tee in here with a great staff and around him and I think we might be alright. Steele as DC. We'll recruit on an elite level and will develop players. Martin understands what it's going to take to win at Tennessee and I'd think he'll have plenty of guidance from Phil. And hey, we'll get back to power football.

Question. You seem like a smart guy. Say you own a business that in the last couple of years has had an issue with sexual impropriety claims. And say you are needing to hire a manager to run your business at the ground level. Now, say you have a guy you like on he hook, but you find allegations that he didn't report a child sexual abuse incident to authorities, and find proof that he ordered his subordinates to purposely try to hurt Rivals and find proof that he leaked information about an subordinates drug issues to the press. On top of that, he has been only moderating successful day his job.
