Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLVII

Today has been utterly mind blowing

And to see UCLA get their guy in a couple of days, and A&M get a sitting coach in hours... while dropping his last game...

And here was Currie, actually sitting on Schiano... and was going to let him stay at OSU through the bowl game.

There just are not words for this incompetency

This isn’t talked about enough. He was gonna give him a $20m buyout AND let him stay at OSU through the bowl game!

Unreal

Landry is good. He wrote an article about Gruden and how it would be floated out there to make people look like they tried, but that he was never coming. Dude is great when on the radio in ATL.

So either way, we fired Butch after 5 years and are going to be in no better shape moving forward because we are only going to be able to get some 4th tier guy again... like Dooley.... like Butch... now (insert new coach name) for 5 more years of average to below average. UT won't run for a SEC championship at this rate for another 10 years. It it solely rests on the shoulders of one John Currie... I hope this guy is afraid to leave the house every day. He single handedly screwed this program into potentially a worse place than it already was.
Oh, and Ban all the Gruden idiots
Oh, and F Gruden
Oh, and if Peyton and/or Fulmer had anything to do with Schiano, then F them too.
We are about to drop into the 50-60's with this recruiting class ranking, while we currently don't have 'ish for a O or D line... and it won't get any better.
Strap on boys for probably another winless SEC season next year.
I for one, will not be watching. I've given too much time and money to this circus.
I have my degree on the wall from UT, but that is unfortunately where it begins and ends with me for the foreseeable future unless a miracle happens. But this is UT, so it won't.

Yea, we're f'd for the foreseeable future. Only way out of this mess is to spend mega bucks and we'll not do that. Meanwhile the fans will keep throwing money over there. Not me, I'm done. Call me when it's fun again.

Yes.

Browsing media reports...things not as negative as I expected. Most reporting pieces make it clear this was about Penn st stuff and not just random mob reaction.

Opinion pieces somewhat split. Sports writers more blaming fan base, but a lot of positive stuff as well.

Eh, Brohm could stabilize things and get us to where we beat teams we should beat. Definitely not going to beat Mullen and Smart, but could get us to 8-4 and keep us there I'd think.

Pass. I would roll with Tee. We need a recruiter to stabilize things. Give him a great staff but it is extremely risky.

Ya, I'm a Saturday only guy if we don't somehow dig out of this

I don't think we have to accept the notion that absolutely NO ONE decent is going to come here. The fanbase will be very receptive to coaches now. Bar has been massively, massively lowered.

We'll probably have to overpay, though. Went from our heads in the clouds to people swearing off the program forever.

The only candidate in the ADs mind was the one he tried to hire. Message board fodder about Jon Gruden had no bearing on that other than for some odd reason our idiot AD thought it would be cute to let it keep building while he played secret agent man.

Take a lap

In the end, Currie and Haslam were just like Butch. They think they're smarter than everyone else and won't listen to anybody.
