Sure, but in my opinion we're already at the tail end of a week of negotiations you mentioned. They've been talking to Mullen for two weeks at least. Maybe longer since it's Sexton. That's why I'm saying if you sit down with him it's probably done. I don't think it got to this point with Mullen with Florida, Penn State or Oregon.
You'd know better than I, but the only coach we sat down with in 2012 was Strong, right? And he agreed to a deal. Then he went home and Louisville paid him enough to make him stay.
Sure. They've been talking to Sexton, but MSU is still waiting in the wings. There will be addendums and counters. MSU wants to slow it down; we want to speed it up. I just think we'll move along quickly, unless we know Mullen is serious. No time for gameplay, and if starts going that way, I think we'll take it as a sign and move on quickly. JMO. The only thing I know for sure is that Currie doesn't place a premium on SEC experience like some.
Not really. I used the OG to identify my as the original babyavi, although I did get that idea for the original Grudenites. However, yes, I thought we would get him the last time. I didnt fully realize the dumpster fire we had at the time, and how dysfunctional the administration and boosters were. Plus, I cant help but try to be optimistic when it comes to my alma mater. I think things are at a completely different level than they were in 2012.
I trust Currie. It seems Mullen is now the target after Gruden. If Mullen declines I imagine Currie knows exactly who to call next to get it done quickly.
We're going to have an announcement either Sunday or Monday. I'm very confident in that.
My point was that UT can try to hire an "A" list coach all day, but it isn't just about money. There are many other factors.
See McElwain at UF, Oregeron at LSU, and Helton at USC.
IDT we're going to lock up Mullen until Currie feels confident we can't land one of our top candidates. I agree it could fall to Mullen... but if we hire him before midweek, at least two other candidates refused to do a face-to-face.
Frost.
Experience at Oregon, success at UCF, looks like he'd break a dude in half...
I can't tell if Campbell is a flash in the pan or the real deal.
