Currie isn't going to squash it and UT isn't going to comment. That has been made clear. Gruden said last time that it isn't his place to speak out on rumors that he didn't start. Attention is like air to a celebrity-- and that's how he sees himself.

Obviously Currie isn’t going to squash it, but if Gruden isn’t in play Currie SHOULD squash it.

So since I haven’t been on here most weekend. Was or was he not in Knoxville yesterday? I don’t see the sports source making t up.

Sorry if already discussed

He hasn’t won that many games at a high level. His great class that he recruited for us turned to ashes. He urinated all over our entire program.

Again, have just a tiny bit of self respect.

He also had very few scholarships at USC. I think he did well there given the circumstances. And it was his first class. Those are always rushed and hit or miss. You put it together in two months.

He's going to continue to work his list and conduct interviews with the goal of having a new coach in place the first week in Dec. They want to move recruiting visits from the Vandy game to then-- and they're hoping to have Mays and Taylor on campus to lure them back in. Both are open to that, so UT is working hard to make that happen.

But none of this is originating with UT, and UT isn't feeding the frenzy. Fans are taking rumors and running with them and the media is fanning the flames for clicks and airtime. Grumors are very profitable for websites. Who's spreading these rumors? Established media sources or newbies and wannabes who're suddenly getting their names out there and getting in the conversation-- say on a fan site that has produced more than 15000 pages of content in a week or radio shows that are loving the uptick?

I've felt this way sometimes. Most of the so-called "smoke" is coming from message boards and would-be twitter journalists. Not many - if any - mainstream journalists lending credence to Grumors. Meanwhile Currie is content to let them float out there. It's free misdirection while he looks at other candidates.

SIAP but if you had to give 3 probable names who would they be?

Not sure if you’ve weighed in or not but I think someone posted about two coaches that won’t even talk due to the Grumors meaning him or bust, have you heard anything pertaining to that?

Cause he wasn’t at Calhoun’s- as far as I can tell.

If he is our next coach, there's really no need for him to be anywhere near Knoxville right now. Runs against his grain anyway. Note that he's been "scarce" around here since his name really started to gain traction.

He has a job in Seattle tomorrow night. That's where he needs to be right now.

If he ends up with a job in Knoxville, I don't care if he ever sets foot in Calhoun's again. Just win, baby.

Go Vols.
