The best coaches relay their anger to their players in a way that effectively gets their point across. Some kids need that fire, some kids need a one on one conversation behind closed doors. The key is to know and understand your players. The coaches that fail tend to only do it their way and lose half their team somewhere along the way. I'm guessing Bufch falls into this category.

But when one player gets that fire, others see it. Then if another player gets the conversation behind closed doors the others don't see it and that's when charges of favoritism and such start.

As a high school teacher, I can tell that on the one hand you're right, you can't treat them all the same. But on the other hand I can also tell you that the students, more realistically the parents, better feel all are getting the same treatment. It's a fine line; I'm sure it's a heck of a lot tougher for a HC at a P5 school where players/parents believe careers are on the line.

Making the announcement before Saturday makes some sense if Currie is seeking to avoid the unlikely but possible scenario of Hoke beating the Tigers and gaining some goodwill with the fanbase and other boosters.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but I haven’t put much stock in what he’s said. He’s a little off. Only thing he is hanging his hat on is that Butch would be fired on Nov. 12th but let’s be real, he had a 33% chance to be right. It was either happening yesterday, next Sunday or The Sunday after the Vandy game. Other than that most of his stuff just seems fishy.

Yeah that's probably fair. I guess there's an art to dealing with a huge room full of college kids with huge egos.

Take this for what it's worth, I have never known anyone in the AD nor do I know anyone connected to the AD. I do however have a good friend that I currently work with that had a Grumor today. His brother works for Pilot and has some pretty connected friends. He was telling us that he knows Haslams pilots and they had said they have been flying JG around lately.

I typically don’t watch NFL. Is it typical for Gruden not to be as vocal as McDonough? Gruden very quiet tonight on the broadcast.
