Yea, nothing has changed but acting like Mullen would be the next coming of Dooley is crazy.

He’s not a top guy but he’s certainly not the bottom of the barrel either

Would can do a lot better and we can certainly do a lot worse!

This program needs the same Adrenalin injection it got when Peyton announced he was staying for his senior year even though he was projected to be the #1 pick in the draft. That Adrenalin comes in the form of 1 JON GRUDEN!

Soon!

I’d love to know how y’all come up with Mullen being so bad.

Explain why he is so good.

Look at his record. Same winning pct as Butch homie. I don't care if it's at miss state, great coaches don't go 6-7 in the prime years of their career.

You want him, enjoy marginal football top 10-20 recruiting classes, 8-9 wins per year and it will only cost TN $5.5-$6M/yr

I think by now it's been established that Currie didn't want to have to fire Butch when he's only been on the job for 8 months. The only reason he fired him now was because of the score of the Missouri game. This should tell you that Currie has obviously not been working on anyone in the background before this weekend. To assume Currie has a man basically hired and in waiting is stupid.

Just a side note FWIW... I think the Mullen noise is all about Sexton. Remember the narrative earlier in the month about Sexton looking for a soft landing spot for Bruce. Well, not a stretch at all to think Sexton would be pushing a big increase for another of his clients. Enter Mullen. Flash forward - buzz is Florida is sick of Sexton, which is why you don't hear Mullen's name there, and why Frost isn't already announced.
Sexton knows we're going to move fast on this hire. He has to create a firestorm quickly to get his guys raises.

I think he comes not for the money (although that has to be there) but for the passion of coaching. I think he wants to coach again and he has ties/experience on the hill and a roster that is not devoid of talent. I expect he will bring his own coaches if he does come.

If you go back a few days ago, you will see where I posted that Gruden had already contacted Tee Martin and Dale Jones about positions. It's there you can see for yourself. I'm not asking anyone to believe me, that's your right. But I am passing on info that I know to be True.

Frost isn’t announced because Kelly is now thought to be the choice

Random thought.

I'm Jon Gruden, a well known workaholic. Up at 4am every day, preparing for a job that requires a couple days of actual work. I also devote considerable thought and time to the study of football, which I love.

If I'm Jon Gruden, it pisses me the hell off to see every media talking head in the country saying "why would he leave his easy job with ESPN? He's living the good life!"

These people are calling me LAZY.

These people are saying I'm SOFT.

These people are saying I value comfort and ease over work and grinding and WINNING.

If I'm Jon Gruden, I'm mad.

If I'm Jon Gruden, I decide to do what I love, show these talking heads how wrong they are about me, and start coaching some damn football.

Random thought. TIFWIW. :)

Cant read every post in the thread, but new rumors are that Gruden is reaching out to former UT players and coaches about joining his staff. If true it means he is actually thinking about this.

This is pretty old news. Evidence of this was reported in the Gruden thread days ago.
The local media is way behind what is occurring because they refused to admit
JG was a candidate. The local sports radio stns are even worse.

Waiting for "The Visor".

Exactly, he is average or slightly above. Why do we want that, why, when this is probably the 2nd most important hire in the history of TN football due to recent history would we think getting a Mullen is ok?

I agree, he isn't a terrible coach but he isn't the solution to our problems. Meanwhile UF is out courting a 46-7 HC who our awesome leadership won't even consider beva2usr we are apparently superior to that it seems
