On Sirius 91 college football radio just now, they were comparing Arkansas v. Tennessee this year. The hosts, Ian Fitzsimmons, said that Tennessee is like the prom queen and is all glitz and glamour but not something substantial that you would want to take home to mom. Houston Nutt chimed in and agreed that we did not have anything on the lines other than Derek Barnett, especially in the interior D line. He said we would have a lot of guys playing that nobody has heard of.

They gon learn.

but they dont wanna talk about losing Martrel Spaight, Darius Philon, Trey Flowers, Carroll Washington, Alan Turner, Tevin Mitchel and Braylon Mitchell on that defense?

obviously Arkansas is improved but alot of the love affair is just bc the fact that people love Bret Bielema. And of course Houston Nutt says that. He loves Arkansas. They also play in the West. So good luck with that.

if you wanna see a THIN Linebacker unit. Go look at the Hogs.

Had 81 TFLs last yr as a defense. Almost 60% of those are gone as well. Not really trying to knock them but you cant say their personnel is better than UTs on defense. UT is way deeper.

From what I can tell their entire DL had 17 sacks last season. They lost 10.5 of those sacks in Flowers and Philon.

If you want to argue Arkansas is better than UT, you probably shouldn't says it's because of the DL.

I think it was Luginbill on arky radio the other day saying "UT and Arky are very similar on the DL. For instance, you've got Barnett at UT and Bijon Jackson at Arky. Both will be playmakers."

He should...he's had sex with most of it. :yuck:

Thought that was Willie Martinez?

Hopefully the attachment works.

The guy in the orange jacket wearing white sleeves taking his hat off.

Watch that rep and focus on him. Probably start at the 1:00 mark.

Bijon Jackson is a good player. Derek Barnett he is not.

i dont care how they spin it losing spaight, flowers and philon is a huge blow. Those 3 alone were only responsible for almost about 35% of their tackles on the yr as a whole defensive unit. 26 TFLs and about 12 sacks btw those 3.

Can someone superimpose Butch over Dooley in this pic? I love the concept, but now the photo only reminds me of dashed hopes and dreams. We can leave Saban right where he is.

Naw, let it die. Tennessee's coach shouldn't be wearing a reddish coat nor would the Tennessee flag be all torn up with CBJ. Also is that the American flag being used as a saddle blanket? Nope, let this go...imo

What he said was Mosely and Martin starting at CB and Sutton to Nickel so they can move him around to play the #1 WRs like Pharoh Cooper.

I love this news. To me it means two things:

1. That the staff already has a enough confidence in Martin to even think about moving Sutton from Corner speaks volumes about how good Martin must look

and

2. Think about this - Justice Coleman had more interceptions last year than Cam Sutton (4 to 3). Think about the playmaking that an elite cover man like Cam can provide playing more in the middle and less on the edge!? You can book 7+ pics for Cam if he plays Nickle all season.

I'm almost afraid to get too excited about fall camp, but damn.

-KMack living up to the hype and then some.
-Tuttle living up to the hype and then some.
-Phillips proving he's a freak right off the bat.
-Jennings becoming a legitimate threat at WR with a bright future ahead of him.
-Dobbs continuing to prove why he's the #1 QB.
-Dormady seriously impressing as the backup QB with Jones right behind him.
-Kelly and Young looking better than expected at RB.
-Justin Martin's athleticism impressing everyone.
-Freshman OL looking like they may be good enough to start playing immediately this season.

The last point is really the only point of concern, as expected, but we may see some surprises. If we could somehow speed up the OL development by one year, I think we'd win the East for sure this season.

One thing that I'm honestly dying to see, and I think it happens this season, are tough and close SEC games where we just demoralize opponents and start pulling away in the 4th quarter. For too long we've been on the opposite end of those games where it's just painfully obvious that the game is slipping away. I think we're finally in position to start doing that ourselves in 2015.

Good point. There is a legitimate chance of that scenario happening in the Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky, South Carolina and Missouri games. I could see a lot of 30-17 type scores in there where we grind it out down the stretch and our defense makes key stops.

Loving what I'm seeing out of the newcomers from camp so far. This defense is just going to be so fun to watch.

Still waiting to see anything to suggest Malone isn't soft and going to be a disappointment though. JJ has been a wide receiver for about 72 hours and looks to already be getting better reviews. I know it's early, and I hate to pile on the kid, but I just don't see it.
