I know some of us were kind've expecting to be were we are after this week, and had a shot at the last 4 games. The problem was keeping the team morale up after the slaughter house of the meat of the schedule. Now I don't think Butch did this intentionally but putting in fresh legs Dobbs last night and having the success we did might just be the shot in the arm the team needed to make a run down the stretch. I know for me personally, I have more hope for this year and going into next than before last night so I can only imagine the team will rally. Go Vols! Win out and lets go bowling.

I'd like to know who some of you think would do a better job than Butch to this point? Taking into account the lack of depth on both lines and having to face ten top-10 teams in your first 20 games.

Butch vs. top-10 teams: 1-9
Butch vs. non top-10 teams: 8-2

We have at least a half dozen posters on here if not more that can do it.

Y'all need to go back and look at last night's highlights and look at the block Pig got on the edge to spring Lane for his 45 yard gain.

That is a pancake on the perimeter.

Alabama showed last night how much it helps the offense to get your play maker the ball. North should get at least 10 targets a game.

Dobbs looked great. Can't say enough about the lift he gave the entire offense. Only 1 sack against Bama is shocking.

Defense suffered from a lack of good depth again. Can't wait to get more talent on the interior line and CB position outside Sutton.

Beast package was a terrible idea. Our line isn't pushing Bama.

We could win out or lose 3 of 4. Going to depend heavily on Dobbs. If Dobbs wins out we will be drinking heavy kool aid this off season.

While I don't disagree about North getting more touches, IMO it is easier to do with Cooper because he is quicker and can take screens and short passes for long gains. North is not as quick, but his advantage is his size and hands. He is better when getting one on one coverage down the field. I never played football, but this is just my observation. It seems to me that Pearson, Pig, and even Malone seem to be a tad quicker with the short passes. JMO.

Seems like Pearson can be our version of Cooper. North can be the one who goes up and gets the fade in the endzone. I know if I were the OC I would be looking at the plays they ran against us, like the first play and getting those plays into our playbook. They can work for us too.

I can't predict something that doesn't happen. I have no idea, but the staff clearly wanted to try to redshirt Dobbs for the future. If people can't see a difference from the Dooley years, then I can't help. Our guys compete, play hard, and let's hope for wins at the end of the year.

VG4 I agree with you. I wish all these "fans" on here would quit B!|€#IN and moanin' about this season. Football is not just about this year. Yes, the coaching staff was forced into pulling JD's RS, but would it not have been better to have him for 3 more years after this with a more seasoned OLINE? Absoeffinlutely it would have! I felt before the season started we go 6-6 and go bowling, I still feel that way. If I could "KNOW" before the season started that we would go 7-5 if we burned JD's RS; I would say save it. I want TENNESSEE winning SEC Championships and competing for the NC and one extra win this season is not that big of a deal. I have followed the Vols since the 60's so I realize this is a long race. GO VOLS BEAT THE COCKS, AND THE OLE BALL SACK!

I want to know why we always roll our right handed quarterbacks to the left. I'd think we'd do the opposite.

I didn't chart it, but I believe they either rolled out or called the run/pass option to the right more with Dobbs. I specifically recall it when he missed Pig over the top down the right sideline. It was a great call because it was the read option and then a pass toward the right.

They did in the first half, not the second half. How do you explain that? We were expected to get blown out, crushed, to give up double digit sacks and just suck all together. Didn't happen.

UT held the potent Bama offense to 1 TD in the second half.given the amount of freshman we play, we are better than some of you bagheads think.

We are some seasoning and another recruiting class away from being a top tier team. We need to finish the season strong now that the schedule gets easier and take that momentum into the 2015 season.

Morning, Gentlemen!

A few thoughts on the game:

Impressed on how such a young team didn't fold when they got down 27-0. With the youth and inexperience amongst this team, that's a sign of improvement. Had this been Dooley, the team for sure would've folded.

Can't say enough about Dobbs. Inserting him into the game made all the difference in the world. The offense opened up more because he gave us that extra dimension that we needed. With a mobile QB in the game, that keeps defenses guessing and I could tell right away that Bama was like "wth?"

We didn't win the game, but we did win 3 outta 4 qts. against the #4 team in the nation. I know people are sick of hearing about moral victories and all that but it is what it is. Last night gave me hope that one day very soon, we will be winning a lot of ballgames. Our time is coming, and CBJ is the right coach to lead us there...

All that being said, I think as long as Dobbs plays like he did last night, we will reach our goal of 6 and earn a trip to a bowl game. That equals a successful season in my book; however, next year I expect more and think we get 8 wins.

I think we're a couple more recruiting classes away. And I think these freshmen need to be juniors before we'll be top tier. 2016 should be a breakout year. I dont see next year as much better. Maybe a little but not much.

I'm thinking in another game or two, once things really begin to slow down for him, those types of throws will be money.

"That kind of person". Gotcha. We are a battered fanbase. I get that, but you are grasping at straws. Reality is, our defense got raped tonight and we lost by 2 TDs by a so called "Rival". Tac another one in the L column. It is what it is.

Yea, because you know nothing about me. Reality is that it has been frustrating but that I will always support the team, and we have to keep moving forward. I am a fan; I have no control over the outcome; and I will not give up. I know it will mean that much more when (not if) we start winning these games. But some fans just continue to use their energy to ***** and moan. Keep complaining if that us your thing.

North can run over DBs. Go watch the Oklahoma game. He made a great play yesterday on a hitch getting up field. Getting him the ball really isn't too hard. His ball skills are ridiculous. Pearson should be used more downfield as well..

SN: Lane getting run down by a DE was ridiculous. Lol The WRs were dominating on the edge blocking wise all night though.
