Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XIII

They didn't have the entire playbook at their disposal, so they had to go with what the kids knew. If you are correct again this year, then we have an issue.

Vandy was our 11th game of the season. If your kids don't know the playbook by the 11th game, something is bad wrong.

I remember going to the 04 Game game and being blown away at how loud the stadium was after Whilhoit's kick. Brings back good memories to watch it again.

Daniel Helm and Von Pearson lost their black stripes today.

Excited for Von, I think he's gonna do big things here.

Now watching 05 LSU at the half. Les Miles has always been a bad clock manager I guess.

It was double OT so Mauk had more time to accumulate stats and nearly half of Mauk's yards came on a 96-yard pass.

Point remains, it's not like Mauk is some kind of known quantity. Dude may be good, may not.

Fair point. I picked Mizzou to have the biggest dropoff in the SEC with aTm but I'm still thinking they're a solid team. Next year we definitely beat them, this year will be a tough one.

I am no coach, but Dobbs was not running as the 2nd or maybe even 3rd QB during the first half of the year. It's not about the playbook; it's about the reps. Your 1st and 2nd team guys get almost all of the reps to prepare during the week. That is reality. It was just a tough situation.

That said, I can understand your points about running it a little more.

Lol.

Mizzou @ 9-3
Vandy @ 6-6
UK @ 5-7
UT @ 4-8

and LOL @ all teams (except Arky) in the West being 8-4 or better

I CANNOT WAIT for the season to finally start and prove some of these experts - both the national talking heads and the ones on this site - that are doubting us. Can. Not. Wait.

Okay. I have given this some serious thought. I keep going back and forth but I am going to officially commit to a season prediction.

Here is is:

8-5.

Lose to Oklahoma, Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, USCjr

I dunno. TBD in the TBD Bowl is going to be tough. Otherwise I agree with your prediction.

SIAP but I'd anyone see where on the SEC network they called the Tennessee game a "gimme" for Florida? I know from a national perspective they've won 9 straight years and all, but they were 4-8 last year. We may lose, but it certainly won't be a freakin "gimme" game!...... Smug a** commentators. Can't wait for that game

I agree with them having the biggest drop off, but in my book that is so precipitous a fall that they rank only barely ahead of Kentucky and Vandy in the East.

They lost over half their defense and those lost include all the playmakers. So look for the defense to have quite the drop off specifically sack and turnover totals.

On offense, they yet again lose over half their players and well over half their production. The only thing that returns intact is their Oline. Without that good RB and elite receiving corp last year, Mauk would have been atrocious. His numbers were pretty bad anyways when you consider that they are inflated against bad defenses in UK and us.

Mizzou wins 3-5 games dependent on injuries, luck, and schedule.

I agree, but we need to start winning before we can complain about a lack of respect from the media, IMO.

The Florida hype is strange to me. I mean, look, I know that defense is nasty, and they have talent all over the field, but to just say that offense is going to work prior to the start of the season is nuts to me. Tennessee fans know better than anyone that bringing in new coordinators don't necessarily equal instant results. ESPECIALLY with a head coach who might not be very good at being a head coach.
