My problem was with some of our play designs. They were just dumb at times. Then after the SCAR game we went away from the bunch formation. I thought it was our best formation after watching it work two games straight. The screen game is just schematically off to me. A lot of them don't have a chance in hell. I wouldn't mind seeing them studying Oregon, FSU, or Okie State's offenses from just an Xs and Os standpoint this offseason.

The screens don't work for us because our receivers are not good blockers, with the exception of Jacob Carter and Croom. It's hard to run when you get nailed as soon as you catch the ball. But I do agree with what you said. The screen game just doesn't seem right when I watch it from a scheme standpoint.

I just really struggled to understand what we were trying to accomplish on offense. We put young quarterbacks (Peterman then Dobbs) in terrible situations. The running game essentially consisted of inside zone and that alone. That is a great play, but you need more diversity. Run some power, counter, iso, trap, buck sweep, etc... The jet sweep was something we never blocked well. For most of the year, we ran the zone "read" without really reading anyone. So essentially we left a player unblocked for most of our run plays. The freeze play is nice in theory, but we ran it 3 times this year, got 1 QB injured, 1 penalty called on us, and only got 1 offsides call.

A lot of it is talent and that's why I'm not completely off the Bajakian train. I'm willing to give it a shot with more talent and see what happens. But schemetically, it just felt really off. It's kinda hard for me to place exactly what it is. I may go back and try to rewatch all our games and examine the offense more closely. It just felt very off. Like we had no identity. And the scheme's weren't working at all.

We were at our best running read option with Dobbs. We didn't run it a lot. Ran a lot of fakes but the read-option should've been the bread and butter Year 1.

Dobbs is a poor passer. We would have had a much much better chance to win the Vandy game with Worley.

I don't see Dobbs winning the starting job in 2014.

I'm kinda split on the OC personally. On one hand he's severely undermanned. On the other hand he was creative at all in getting players with certain skill sets into advantageous matchups. I really want to see what he does but I don't trust him at all yet.

I'm hoping we recruit so much talent, a blind monkey could call plays, averaging 40 ppg

Does the 3 players (Harris, Smith, and Thomas) transferring open up 3 more spots for the 2015 class?
