What you say about the rule is correct.

But imo that Bammer call (which is the only reason Bama even got into OT) was also bad according to the rule. If the ball was down the moment the out-of-bounds player touched it, then it was down exactly when it was between the two hands of the LSU player.

They misinterpreted the rule to mean the ball was down the moment after the illegal player knocked it out of the LSU player's hands. That means they allowed the out-of-bounds Bammer to cause a fumble. It was just straight up Birmingham imo.

This is correct. The ball is down as soon as the lsu players has the ball in both hands with one knee down. A player out of bounds has no bearing on that call.

Those plays were there, but I still think the biggest issue is that our offense is too stubborn about pushing the ball deep in the passing game. UGA was willing to vacate the middle of the field, especially in the 10-15 yard window when they blitzed and Hooker usually didn't have a single option to get rid of the ball quick. I blame many of the sacks on him holding the ball too long due to most receivers running 15+ yards down the field. Sometimes you have to just take what's there and be smarter about when you take your shots deep. I think a rematch would come with a much better plan on offense from Heupel.
Blah blah blah...I'm going to speak the truth...if Hendon hits the open plays that were there, those plays are not figments of anyones imagination, those big plays were really THERE to be made...If he hits those MAKEABLE plays...plays we make in bunches every f'n week, none of you armchair guys are griping about the playcalling...instead everyone is calling Heupel a genius for once again eviscerating a great defense by scheming wide open guys running free behind the defense.

We'll know how the SEC feels about us by the game time they assign us for the S Carolina game.

If we handle our business like we should against Mizzou they will schedule our SC at 11 if they want aid our efforts to get in.

Let's be real the only chance SC would have is a night game..
If we can’t beat SC at night then we don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.

Rule needs to change there. I think they concluded he was still in the tackle box and therefore not a ball carrier. If he'd been outside the hashes and the same thing had happened maybe he'd have been fair game? Mizzou got shafted.

Pretend the punter is a QB trying to throw it away. That wouldn't have been roughing the passer.
That wouldn’t be roughing the passer either. He hit him just as the ball was leaving his foot.

Game time for SC will be announced tomorrow. Unless it’s one of those flexed games, we’ll know the certain game time by tomorrow afternoon.

I ain't read shizz since the game started. I don't need to. The Vols got put in their place tonight. Own it and take it. Fair and square. Swallow it and move on. We're coming...year 2.

“We didn’t lose the game; we just ran out of time.”

These Vols are not the same Vols that quit when the going got tough. There’s still hope that they can make a playoff berth.

And even if not, they are the greatest team that we’ve had in a really long time.

Minimum 12-1 🤠

Maxims 13-1 🤠

My son just texted me and he has rewatched the game...he said he counted three times that if Hooker had hit wide open receivers that we would have won...he said it made him really nervous about playing us again.

This will always be our lot under Heupel against really great defenses. If our QBs hit those passes we win, if we don't we lose. The plays are there, there are less of them than in a normal game, and the QBs will be under pressure...but the plays will always be there.
Was just going to post this. I don't think we scored on any of those drives that HH over threw wide open WR's for td's. But, that's football. We just did not get the plays last night we are used to seeing.

Wait... your son is a Georgia fan?

Forget everything I said about cancelling people. You're #cancelled.
Yes...it is a long story that I have told many times....and yes in the early 2000s when he was a young boy and I was extremely busy, and Fulmer was pissing me off...he would go spend summers and breaks with his family in Georgia some of whom attended UGA...he was very close to them and this is what happened....I failed.

We need next weekend to come as soon as possible. Wipe that loss off and kick some a**.

Texas is going to beat TCU and we will be in the playoff.

After the season shakes out, here is how I see the final rankings:

1. UGA
2. OSU
3. UT
4. USC (Pac-12 sneaks in for the first time)

ACC is terrible and out. Big 12 beats each other and keeps themselves out. Playoff has wanted a Pac-12 team in for years and will have a reason to put them in this year. USC will beat Oregon.

I agree. The ACC is bad this year, and the Big 12 eats their own. I could see TCU losing their next two. The PAC-12 will get someone in.

Correct. Which is what I said. Might be jumbled, I'm saying what was called but also arguing a counterpoint.

Counter-counter point they protect punters to a greater degree than QBs. You can hit a QB as he throws, but best not touch a punter unless you touch the ball.

I feel like USC might lose to Notre Dame but will beat UCLA and Utah will beat Oregon. All of which will only help us.

Why do y’all think a loss Oregon gets in over us when we have played a common opponent, and they were beat by 32 more points than us on a neutral field??? I don’t get this thinking.

Recency Bias is a hell of a drug.

There are easy narratives for the committee and media to string up about this scenario for Oregon. First game of the year with new coaches, new QB at a “neutral field” that wasn’t so neutral. Then, they go out and look like world beaters, even if the competition is overrated, the rest of the way and win a PAC12 championship. Regardless of what we think about the competition they will have multiple ranked wins and a championship if they win out.

Now, there are also easy narratives around UT to string up to. Worst game of the year for us, away against the #1 team, etc., but had more ranked wins than other candidates while blowing out a top 6 team (at their home stadium) and beating another top 10 team. That’s a strong resume.

I would hope the committee would look at it the way you and I do, but that’s far from a given and the media would raise hell if a second SEC team got in over any 1 loss conference champion. Media pressure can be more impactful than we want to admit.

Dang that sucks...

But you still get the gulag!

So let me get this straight, we miss the SEC championship but are likely number 4 if we win our and catch a couple of breaks?
Pretty much. We won't drop far losing to #1 at their house. Bama and Clemson loss really helped. Many have said, a loss to UG would be best case scenario to get out of having to play SEC ship game. Which would yall rather have, SEC ship appearance, or CFB appearance? Either in year 2 under Heup is nothing short of miraculous!!
