Agreed. Had he not quit in 2016 the Vols probably beat Vanderbilt and play in the Sugar Bowl. He was really close to would being the leading rusher in UT history. He was a playmaker and a difference maker for the Vols.

Lol, Hurd's 3.7 yards a carry that season wouldn't have changed a damn thing

Facts.

Tee's stats in 1998:
57.3% 2164 passing yards 19 TDs 6 INTs 287 rushing yards 7 TDs

Tee's legacy exist mainly because he was the QB of a championship team.

UT doesn’t win the first BCS Title without Tee Martin. He wasn’t the most consistent QB but he made plays when UT needed them the most. He was so much more than a caretaker with the Football.

The main thing that I remember about Tee is that he seems to have an uncanny ability to pull the perfect play out of his butt.

He certainly did. But it's interesting to review that year. I went to 11 of the 13 games, and the plays seem like yesterday.

The Syracuse game was higher scoring. But, the defense caused turnovers against UF as UT only had 235 yards of total offense.

At Auburn, we won 17-9 on a long INT return by Shaun Ellis. I can still see him now as he was running toward our endzone (didn't think he was going to survive it). We also stopped them on 4 straight downs from the 1 yard line.

At Georgia, we held them without a TD. Against Alabama, Price's KO return was instrumental. USCA and UAB were bad.

Of course, we all know Arkansas. UK and Vandy were bad.

UT only had 249 yards against MSU, and a late TO sealed the game. In the national title game, Tee had the two long passes to Price, but Goodrich's INT return was huge.

A bunch of non-offensive plays that helped us win that title.

Deon Grant’s INT against Florida is freezeframed in my mind’s eye.

I listen and what the best for this team but it’s certainly not going to get fixed in one off season. It’s going to take years to get the program where it needs to be to compete in the SEC again. And by that I mean beating the brakes off of everyone and challenging Florida, Georgia and Alabama every year.
Mizzou, Kentucky, SC, and Vanderbilt should look at their schedule every summer and just mark down a loss when the see Tennessee on it.

I like Pruitt and I think he’s going to get the Vols where they need to be, but it ain’t happening overnight unless JG turns it to Josh Dobbs or Tee Martin.
There are not many of us who do think it will happen overnight, with @Sleegro being a big exception. Many of us think we make progress this year. I think 8 wins is doable, but it will not be easy. I think that next year could be a very good year. I don't know this, obviously. But, I am optimistic. It's just more fun for me that way.

XXV-Nulla

Disagree, but we'll never known.

Just off the top of my head go back and watch the Syracuse game, he had a huge run on the game on the last drive, or the Florida game, he hits Peerless Price for a spectacular TD or the SEC Championship game against Miss State. He always made a play that season when they needed one.

Do you remember off the top of yer head in August of that year if you thought we were gonna win every game? Or were you sending everyone beeper codes warning them not to get overhyped with an inexperienced QB after Peyton graduating? I assume you were in gotta see it on Saturday's to believe it mode.

Yea, but in the UF and MSU games, we had less than 250 total yards of offense. Defensive turnovers helped in both of those games. He certainly had some timely plays during the year, but overall, the defense really allowed us to win the title.
