It doesn’t bother me. If I’m that QB who doesn’t have a defeatist mindset, I tell myself I won’t make that mistake again and I am going to give that defensive player a taste of his medicine the next chance I get.

That is how you handle it on the field. Every single time.
CFB players don't have the luxury of playing in their imaginations.

I had no idea who he was. I had a job to perform an inspection at his house in Hermitage. Very cool house. Afterwards I looked him up, it’s pretty easy listening. Before my time, but classic sound. He died in 2016.

More than easy listening. Before your time, but right in mine. Leon Russell and the Shelter People, a bit different stage experience. He had a long career, worked in a lot of different styles of music, with a long list of other names you've probably heard.

Broadway Joe didn't taunt? He was famous for it. And he's not the only one. It's not new, there's just more coverage now. A Tradition of Stars With Something to Say

I don't remember Namath taunting, but I didn't watch the AFL much. When I did, it was mostly the Chiefs and the Raiders. If you're referring to his famous, "We will win. I guarantee it.", that wasn't a taunt, it was a statement in an interview, as a response to everyone's attitude that his lowly AFL team didn't have a chance against the mighty NFL champion Colts. He was trying to establish some credibility for the AFL. That's about the only statement I remember from him.

The one I do remember was in boxing -- Muhammad Ali. He loved to talk to the media, but he had an ulterior motive. He was a businessman, and did it to generate publicity (and money) for the sport.

But the taunting I had in mind was like the play we were discussing. Physically showing up someone for everyone to see. I don't remember guys doing that. In pro sports, that would have been messing with someone's rice bowl, and that wasn't cool.

That is not just rugby style tackling though. That is how tackling was always supposed to be taught. That’s exactly how I was taught to tackle.

You know football has strayed too far from its roots when rugby style tackling is considered a novel concept and those teaching it are labeled as innovators.

Not really. Don't be an a**hat. Pretty easy. The penalty happened during the play, so must be assessed as such. Why can't kids just act like they have been there before? Act like it's just business? You don't have to showboat. Be civil, celebrate with your team and go on.

Folks can castigate the refs all they want, or the rulemakers, but all the kid had to do was maintain focus on scoring until the goal line, and he'd have had the score. Instead, he decided at some point that teasing an opposing player was a higher priority for him than scoring a touchdown for his team.

This rule would not affect any play, if no kids went out of their way to do something besides just finish the play.

One of the most important attributes of players in the NFL is their competitiveness. What does it say when you sit out your bowl game? That's a red flag as far as I'm concerned.

Bell just sat out an entire NFL season and he will get paid next year.

What I love about college football is that every game matters and we are slowly moving away from that. I would rather go back to the BCS and then a plus one if needed. The regular season turns into a playoff.
You expand the playoffs and then you’re gonna see players sitting out regular season games.

The lower level bowls are for those players who bust it everyday and have a good season. There are teams in conference USA and sunbelt that works really hard and deserve a bowl game even if it’s not the most thing to watch.

I know this is me being a snowflake but I just do not see the need in throwing shade at players who gave their all for Tennessee..
Gave this a like but not because VFG, or anyone, expressing their opinion bothers me.
It's players that don't try. Never had a problem with players that gave it all they had.
