Take your meds Bass. You're getting paranoidI’m sure he is. Just like Currie had Gruden wrapped up when he was in the Bahamas on vacation, I bet Pruitt has Sean Payton’s signature on a contract to be our next OC and he’s just waiting to unleash it on the college football world. I’m sure that’s the case.
People need to stop believing you. You are not an insider and are going on my ignore list.Darnell Wright signing his papers on ESD is looking likely. He's on campus.
So Gray and Darnell are not coming in this weekend?People need to stop believing you. You are not an insider and are going on my ignore list.
Price: “Considering I have a pic of Darnell on my phone that was taken around 11 as he was giving me a hard time for my troll tweet about his teammate committing to ETSU then I’d venture to say that’s not possible.”
I would think that if we let him walk without paying his buyout, there would have been an NDA to prevent him bad-mouthing UT, but that’s just me.I agree. Helton would have taken that job even if he loved it at UT.
And the stuff about Helton proactively bad-mouthing UT (for whatever reason) to potential OC candidates is absolute garbage. People need to stop suggesting that. I don't think that's what VQ implied if people are basing it off of their comments. Moreover, VQ has proved they are in the dark on this thing. So, why create drama that's probably not there?
Yes, because the offense was so bad he wanted to have more input. That’s a far cry from saying from the beginning he forced his offense on Helton and micromanaged him.
He’s the head coach. Head coaches tell their coordinator what offense they will run. If the head coach wants to focus on ball control, he will tell his OC that. If he wants an air raid style he can control that also.
Pruitt wanted us to run the ball. Him emphasizing the style of offense he wants to run does not equate to micromanaging the offense. He is not the one calling plays and thus he is not the one running to the left 75% of 1st and 2nd downs. That’s on Helton
I call BSHe was promised that he could run his offense with no interference and that promise (along with the pay) resulted in him taking a pay cut and basically making a lateral move from a job standpoint. But he was not allowed to run the offense he wanted, and instead was forced to run some mix of what Pruitt wanted and what Will Friend wanted. When the offense struggled as a result of 1) the mixed messages and 2) operating a power running system without the personnel for it, Pruitt attacked him for it instead of backing off and allowing him to run his offense.
He was then pulled from the booth - where he preferred to coach - so that Pruitt could more closely watch him and “keep an eye on him” and the plays he was calling. Again, that’s not how you treat another adult/peer you hired to do a job.
The public tongue lashings were the last straw. He was embarrassed - as any of us would be - and didn’t like being the scapegoat.
He was going to do whatever it took to get out of here after the season. It just so happens he fell forward into a head coaching job.
