I don’t think it’s necessarily a smear campaign but people are going to wonder why he took a 400,000$ pay cut after one year. Bc not everyone will agree that HC at WKU is a better job than OC at TN. If he tells a high candidate like briles or yurcich that’s wants to do their own thing on offense that Pruitt won’t let them then that could explain some of the struggles right now (if they are there)
Coaches do that all the time to be the boss.

But what I know as an absolute fact is the offense we saw this season is not Tyson Helton’s offense.

But then who's offense did we see this season?

I don’t know ultimately if Tyson Helton is a good offensive coordinator. But what I know as an absolute fact is the offense we saw this season is not Tyson Helton’s offense.
None of us had ever seen Tyson Heltons offense before this season.
How on earth do you know for an absolute fact what it was supposed to look like?

I don't believe Helton is running a smear campaign against UT. Fulmer helped Helton and his family into a good situation and made it a smooth transition, and I think there's mutual respect there. But the UT OC job isn't easy and the reality of the situation is going to weed out guys who can't thrive in that type of intense environment. And that's a good thing. Another unhappy OC would be a bad thing.

Ironically, it seems that Pruitt is now changing up the offense to what Helton wanted it to be all along.

Why doesn't Pruitt offer Friend the job or why hasn't Friend taken it?

Did anyone happen to catch the Doug Matthew pod cast last Sunday, 12/9/18? He always has an interesting topic of conversation but this particular one was interesting. He named every coordinator for UT, both offense and defense, from Majors to Pruitt.

I found it interesting because he was basically saying that a number of the coordinators were considered "no name" coordinators when they were hired but became very good during their time at UT. Could he be greasing the wheel a little bit prior to the OC hire? Just a little food for thought ;);););)

Helton could have loved Pruitt and either way he would never ever turn down WKU HC job. He knows that is a very good job at that level to jump to other places. Please stop using the he took a steep paycut nonsense as reason to say omg he hated Pruitt so much he took a paycut. No he took that job because if your goal is to be a HC you don't turn down a job being handed to you that you know everything already about like he did.

I agree. Helton would have taken that job even if he loved it at UT.

And the stuff about Helton proactively bad-mouthing UT (for whatever reason) to potential OC candidates is absolute garbage. People need to stop suggesting that. I don't think that's what VQ implied if people are basing it off of their comments. Moreover, VQ has proved they are in the dark on this thing. So, why create drama that's probably not there?

First bolded comment -- You honestly think he was going to turn down the HC job at WKU after this season? He has a history with WKU, plus he clearly wanted to be a HC before he even took the OC job at UT.

Second bolded comment -- This is an over-exaggerated point, IMO.

On the first part.... no one knows. Some will look at as a lateral move and he should’ve waited on a bigger job (if he was happy here and did well.) either way that’s a massive pay cut.

And idk what control who had. But either way he wasn’t happy here for a reason
