I have to say in all honesty, I thought Pruitt and his staff would recruit better than this. We are missing on our priority targets for ESD. Maybe things will shift in February for us, but nothing that’s happening right now is any indication of that.
I am going to turn your frown upside down....but if I deliver you have to promise to stop bitching (by making negative posts) and just enjoy the wins and not focus on the negative things in relation to TN football and recruiting.

Its not ESD today and it sure as hell isn't feb signing period yet either...and the ink ain't dry till its dry son.

I do not think anyone really appreciated or foresaw just how dominant UGA was going to become in recruiting. While Richt was a fairly good recruiter, he was not elite. So at the time, Alabama was taking the picks of the litter and there were enough leftovers for everyone else to be somewhat satisfied.

Now we are facing two dominant recruiting powerhouses and there is simple not as much in the way of leftovers to split up (understanding as well that LSU controls LA). Going head to head with them over the 5* and top 4* recruits is going to be very frustrating. UT is going to have hit'em where they ain't and win battles against lesser schools. Development, eventually steal a game from the big boys (got to start finishing 3rd or 2nd in the East first!) and then start picking off some studs from the the two big boys. Unless either Alabama or UGA falter, we better develop a hell of a lot of patience.

If you deliver, I promise even I will quit my bitching.

Now come on ATL Vol, you know I’m positive 90% of the time on here. What you got for me?

2-14 in conference the past 2 years makes it a little tough to pull in top 10 classes.

Have to walk before you run. Some of your expectations are a little unrealistic imo
Probably so. Hoped that Pruitt and his staffs relationships would in the south would lead to big time signatures. We have some, but there’s a lot of misses too

Also for reference, first full classes:

Nick Saban - 2007 (Off of 7-6):
Rivals - 10th, 3.28 average star. 0 5-stars, 10 4-stars, 12 3-stars
247 - 12th, 87.81 rating. 0 5-stars, 8 4-stars, 16 3-stars
Jeremy Pruitt - 2019 (Off of 5-7):
Rivals - 12th, 3.45 average star. 0 5-stars, 9 4-stars, 11 3-stars
247 - 15th, 89.65 rating. 1 5-star, 7 4-stars, 12 3-stars.
(Goes to 8th, 90.23 rating. 2 5-stars, 8 4-stars, 12 3-stars with Gray/Wright)
So for anyone getting antsy because Pruitt's recruiting has disappointed, I'm going to reiterate that it's difficult to recruit to a team before making significant improvement. Not trying to imply that Jeremy is going to match Saban in recruiting, but he's been given a worse situation and his first full class matches up very well with what Saban did in year one from a ranking perspective, even without the HC experience.

Let him get his first solid classes, build a foundation, and we'll see the upside in recruiting once the results start to come in.

Gruden sold off his best players for draft picks. He's obviously tanking this season for high picks. Wouldn't be surprised to see him do it next year as well. Its not a strategy I agree with even if you've been handed the keys and 10 years to get it right. Got to imagine it will be tough to win back the team after blatantly throwing a season. If he wanted to quickly overhaul a roster why not just go to college?

So you're saying he's coming?

Nonsense...
Kirby had great talent when he arrived with a winning program..he had a proven track record of recruiting well at another school and he had a fan base that was rabid for change. Throw in the fact Kirby had a large network of boosters already in place to throw bags around at a feverish pace since Richt had never been too keen on that hence why he was never an elite recruiter. You have the perfect storm for what has happened at UGA.

I’m on the complete opposite end of this. Have to take advantage of the new coach bump. That’s probably why Butch’s Recruiting took a nosedive. People saw what he really was on gameday.

Wonder if Pruitt can take a significant jump in the W/L column in his second season? That would go a long way. That’s what Saban did

Lol at Barnes

That’s a good one. I use to coach girls travel softball. I rarely argued calls to the umps because it’s usually a pointless battle. But we were playing in the nationals in Florida one year and the umps were terrible. So I started quoting rules after about every wrong call. Home plate ump called time in the 4th inning, pulled off his mask and yelled. “I wish you wouldn’t tell me how to apply the rules”. So before I thought about it, my response was “ I wish I didn’t have to you how to apply the rules either”.

Everyone at that field got a kick out of it, except for home plate ump. Good times...

You got any good news? Some around here desperately need it.

So the opposite end being coming off going 2-14 we should be recruiting top 5-10 classes with ease?

That’s just not gonna happen.

I haven't been following very closely but why all the doom and gloom? Have we missed on some recruits? If so who is out?

When Pruitt came in there were two things he had to be very good at, recruiting and developing. You could possibly get away with just one of these things it you were excellent at it.

Early returns indicate Pruitt is not going to be an excellent developer or talent but he could surprise me. So that leaves recruiting, middle of the pack SEC classes aren't going to get him there. So where does this leave us? At this point I'm not sure but I think we have a much better understanding of what we have in a coach at the end of next season. I'm hoping for improvement.
