We lost SIX games by 25 pts or more

SIX freaking games!

Extremely damning and telling about a team full of quitters coached by quitters

No long term conclusions made about this staff but it's clearly strike 1 against them. Sure they can overcome being behind the count and still hit a HR but year 1 was an ugly freaking strike
Yes, Jimmy Hyams is pointing this out, in case we aren't all feeling like sh!t, anyway.

I believe this will be a minority opinion here, but I’m fine with Helton coming back next year as OC. This season was always going to be a throw away with this OL. It would also really benefit JG to have a full spring and fall camp in the same system, this time as “the guy.” I think we can be just as good next year in the same system with Helton as we could be next season in a new system.

If it's true that Pruitt has identified players that he doesn't want to be part of this team and let them know this either directly or indirectly by ignoring them and family members and continued to let them play and be part of this team, he made a terrible mistake. It's like firing an employee and giving them two weeks to find another job. Best case is you're going to get zero effort and giveadamn and worst case a bunch of saboteurs.
I can kind of see both sides of it. When Pruitt was hired I and everyone else thought there would be an immediate mass exodus. I think Pruitt did a lot of attitude/ego/relationship management. Darrin Kirkland and Quarte Sapp are perfect examples. This staff and the previous one couldn’t be more different. When that didn’t happen we assumed it was a good thing - that he got all of those guy to buy in and that we were all moving in the same direction.

It’s clearly obvious that wasn’t the case. I understand keeping guys around in the hopes that you can turn them around. And hell, you need the depth regardless. But also understand purging the bad apples as soon as possible.

All in all, I think we would have been better off with half the scholarship players this season. That didn’t happen and I understand why it didn’t.

Don't know if I buy the whole "coaches didn't care about a bowl" spill or not, but I know one thing, they know better than anyone we need a roster flip in the worst way. If a bowl was going to take away from what they see as more valuable time they could be on the road recruiting, screw a bowl. I'm an ends justify the means type of guy, they need to do whatever they can do to cut the players that aren't going to "do it the right way". Run em off, get better ones in. They don't give you an eternity in this league, and they obviously know that. We need a top ten class filled with guys that can be ready to play against Georgia State.

Did anyone else see Pruitt yesterday? I don't think he ever showed emotion. He has been screaming at guys and coaches all year but yesterday...nothing. Tells you all you need to know. He was checked out on this season.

I’m just curious but wouldn’t coaches want all those extra practices? Shouldn’t they??

I watched him closely yesterday in warm ups and during the game. Had seats pretty close to the sideline. Yeah, he didn't seem as into it yesterday, but I could be looking a little too much into that. He knows he's not going to get where he wants to get with a lot of these players.

I dont buy that they didnt want to go bowling, but I bet they see some positives to our current predicament. More time to make roster cuts and recruiting evals before signing day and get off season training in full swing.

I agree but my point was more to making it known that they were on the outside. It took away any hope from them that they were going to be here next year. Left them with little to play for. When it became obvious they were not going to make it, they should have been benched. I think that's why we saw what we did at the end of the season. As the season progressed and Pruitt gave up on some players, they gave up.

Except VQ noted that Pruitt was more frustrated than they had seen him all year in their post game 2 minute drill. So no, he wasn’t checked out.

Maybe so.

I don’t believe it was a conscious thing going into the season. They gave everyone the same chance and then adjusted the effort they gave to those families behind the scenes when those players didn’t give their effort on the field.

You have to remember, Butch coddled a lot of the families. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Drew Richmond’s families would threaten to pull him out of there every week it felt like if he wasn’t going to play. I’m pretty sure Venzell Boulware’s family did the same thing until he finally left. Some of the families held the money they received on the recruiting trail over Butch’s head.

There are bad apples on the football team. But ultimately those are just kids dealing with being away from home for the first time. What’s worse is when the family is full of bad apples.

This recruiting class is the only thing we should care about right now, honestly. I think the coaching staff does deserve some blame, but no coaching staff in the world is going to Atlanta with this team. The oline is horrible and the defense is slow. We shouldn't hate on the players either, because a lot of them just don't have the ability to be better.

I don't know either but I do know this staff has a major problem with motivation.

Hell probably our most connected poster said the coaches weren't even all in with going to a bowl game. That says all I need to hear about these coaches willingness to work at motivating this team. Very discouraging

Many posters never forgave Bray and his teammates for not wanting to go to a bowl and now we hear our own coaches didn't really care. Bs
