First INT happened because OL failed to protect JG and failed to chip the DL that caught the ball, or you could argue that JG held onto the ball a little too long. Second INT was just a great read by the defender, $&@! Happens. All those fumbles had ZERO to do with play calling. The reality is that if you take away the turnovers, that game is at least going to the 4th quarter.

But we did have the turnovers. We will lose to Charlotte if we turn the ball over six times and the don’t.

Nobody blocked them, nobody focused on them. Their assignments were not to rush the passer, they had ZERO affect on JG getting hit and our oline

I didn’t say they affected JG getting hit. But them delaying a blitz meant they sent 7. That left 4 DB’s on 3 WR’s. I don’t know what their assignments were but they were clearly running toward the QB as JG got hit. You knew they weren’t going to cover any of the WR’s from that side of the field. I have no idea what routes we ran but the middle was wide open because they brought their front 7. No one knows if JG was really throwing anyway because a QB usually cocks when he feels pressure.

I agree. I was just responding to everyone pulling their hair and gnashing their teeth over Helton’s play calling. My original point was that the loss was on the turnovers, and that play calling usually has little to do with those kinds of turnovers.

Watch the play. Their key was probably Jordan. Once they realized that Jordan had to block and there was a hat on a hat, they realize that they had a lane. They are standing on the 35 and start sprinting to the LOS before JG sets to throw. One is at the 30 about the time the rusher gets to JG. They are not playing pass defense and they are not just standing there. All of our WR’s were across the field so they had no effect in defending the pass. Reese was behind the line of scrimmage when he caught it, and the ball obly went 2-3 yards out of JG’s hand. Pretty clear.

I've skipped about 30 pages but I already know what they're filled with...

So here's my glass half full take...

This was about 30% coaching and 70% execution. No matter what your game plan is, SIX TURNOVERS ruins any chance of executing anything with any kind of precision.

BVS is a very real thing and our team still has relapses because of it. JP said it himself, there's only so much that he can do if the players don't believe in themselves. Based on last night, I think they're on the road to recovery but, still susceptible to weak mentalities when things start going wrong.

We're not talented, not even close to enough. I'm not blaming this on Butch, he's gone, but his players WERE talented when they arrived but received substandard coaching and have regressed since their arrival.

We're not going bowling. It's just reality. UK and Vandy are, at this point, much better than we are. In fact, UK has an outside shot at the East this year--if they can pull a monumental upset over UGA.

THIS IS A GROUND UP REBUILD. Butch knows less about the game than Dooley but he was much better at the off field duties than Dools ever thought about. He was a used car salesman whose shortcomings caught up to him.

JP is a ball coach. He's got a huge task ahead of him in rebuilding this program. If he can assemble the talent, I feel like he can get the job done...but it won't be easy on the fanbase or him.

Posters keep pointing out the first pick was on the Jordan and Woods-Anderson not blocking the right guy. Jordan has done very little right since WVU. Woods-Anderson is not getting open and is dropping passes. So who keeps playing those guys? When they are out there other players potentially better suited are on the sidelines. If the coaches haven't figured that out yet, I guess I misjudged how good they are.

Turnovers and penalties are what lost us the game yesterday.

Good news, both are correctable.

Bad news, the OL isn’t.

I think if we put Trey at LG again at least we should get a decent push there to run the ball and convert short yardage.

Adjust our passing game to get the ball out quick to help our guards.

Wood Anderson was open for a TD in the redZone but got held so bad on a no call. College offenses rarerly use a tight end heavily so as long as he catches a couple TDS and first downs then it’s par for the course even for good tight ends.

Jordan just isn’t very good. He’s our 4th best back.

The biggest headscratcher for me was running Jordan backed up at our own goal line. It seems to be physically impossible for him to do anything but bounce outside and miss holes. Why he was the go to in our own end zone is beyond me.

Or London on a toss sweep on third and one. He is a north/south quick hitter. Not for a toss sweep.

Yeah, maybe this.

And, while Richmond was imperfect while playing LT last year, seems like he was less bad there, than he has been at RT this year. And I thought LT was harder to play than RT. Thoughts?

I thought that was one of those time when we should’ve just took a couple shots down field. Try to get a PI (haha) or a catch. We consistently had steps on their CBs. Even if we threw a pick it was an INT

Do some of you guys even football? The team has been in orange jerseys and Pruitt is calling the defensive plays. He is wearing white so he doesn't blend in on the sidelines to the players trying to receive the signal. This not wearing orange mess has to be the stupidest bs I've ever seen on Volnation.

There’s a reason no one wanted this job last November.....

I think that second part is the biggest thing they can do. Need to just start throwing it quickly. These long progressions don’t work.

I would have been fine with it. We proved repeatedly that when they knew we were running, the OL got caved in.

I think both tackle positions are about the same. Most defenses use their best pass rusher off RT so they really aren’t much difference in the two.

The biggest complaint i have with the staff so far is how much Cross training we have done at OL. I know they had to get familiar and figure out where they liked people but

By the WVU game we should’ve had a set OL plan and just stuck with the guys there (i know Kennedy injury).

Y'all remember when 247 was pushing that Dom Wood Anderson was going to a 1 & done player down are throats? Yea about that ?????

Agree. Bring Banks in that falls forward nearly every touch, and hits the hole with a mission. Not to mention much better vision.
