I don't disagree with any of that and don't feel he did either.Disagree on the point about OL to some extent. You can’t completely make up for a bad OL. You’re just gonna have some negative plays with an OL like ours. But good OCs will vary your playcalling so that defenses don’t know what’s coming and try to implement some plays that don’t ask too much of the OL.
Rolling out 5-6 times a game isn’t unreasonable. Do a couple rollouts and then you can slip a FB or TE on a wheel route sometimes. You can do PA rollouts. Can’t do it every play, but there’s no reason not to incorporate that into an offense that struggles so much up front.
Some teams with bad OLs just emphasize bubble screens, quick slants, and RPOs to kind of take DLs out of the game.
What you can’t do is be so predictable with your playcalling that defenses know there’s an 80% chance they can sell out for the run. Or only call screen plays in obvious 3rd and long situations where the defense knows a screen or draw is the one thing anybody who’s ever watched football knows to look for.
He wasn't talking about the UF game or any game. He was talking about over all, big picture. A coach can help mask here and there but the bottom line is, you HAVE to have lines in the SEC. No matter what you do, this is "big boy football" and your not going to be truly competitive without the big boys
