we need elite players in order to compete and win at a high level in the SEC... we need to compete and win at a high level in the SEC to get those elite players to commit...

Pruitt coaches his way into 7+ wins this season and we will be fine. We just need this one year to get over the hump and have kids buy in and believe what they are selling. This will be the tough year where we will need to push and have things go our way to win some close games.

Should we be concerned that our class is 24th right now. I know alot of the classes in front of us have on average about three to four more recruits committed. What's y'all's thoughts ?

Yes. We should be concerned. We actually lost a 4star safety today so we’ll drop out of the top 25. It’s not looking good. And it’s hard to understand why. We have 3 national recruiters of the year and can offer ample playing time to any elite player.

seems crazy doesn't it? the same prospects that could help TN (or anyone really) get to the point of winning at a high level, are saying no because TN isn't winning at a high level.

no dude, i need you and 10 of your 4* and 5* buddies to come here, and we'll be throttling folks too lol.

It is July... so no. Besides, we are in on a lot of elite prospects, and we all saw some of the blue chippers Pruitt and co. closed with last year.

Additionally, Pruitt doesn't give two shites about recruiting rankings, and his evaluations, especially on the defensive side of the ball, may be the best in the nation. Everyone needs to relax.

Yeah that is the point-- we need you to come on board so we can win, but you are not coming unless we start winning... :D

If we had a top 5 class right now, we would lose them if the season is a failure. The class we have before the season starts will improve if the season is successful. The more successful the better the class. This used to be understood. The early signing day has caused more players to want to commit before the season which has made it harder for teams needing good seasons to help with recruiting. It is just where we are. Not a thing we can do about it.

If anybody is due a little luck...

A DB from St Louis decommitted in July and the normal cast of characters are ready to Fahr Pruitt and fire up the hot board.

And that's the key. It's not like it's normal posters having some kind of negative revalation.

It's the same 3 or 4 that ONLY show up when they believe there's an opportunity to promote anxiety. You can't be anymore obvious than that. I would hope no one takes it seriously.

Good grief how many is that now for Florida that might not/have not made it in from 2019?

Chaney helped Crompton, and that's something. However, Chaney isn't noted as a recruiter and right now we need SEC players more than anything else. I'd rather have Pittman's recruiting right now than a guy who can turn dials and flip switches to try and squeeze a little more out of JG. We're going backwards in recruiting right now. This staff has put themselves in a tight box. Hold on tight because by end of 2020 season either we're really good or we're back on the coaching search.

Have you already forgotten the Butch Jones years???

I would take elite developers over elite recruiters 10 times out of 10. Bryce Thompson was a composite 89 and was arguably the best freshman DB in the country. Nobody gets too excited about an 89, but he outperformed all those 5 stars that we missed out on on NSD.

"I'd rather have elite recruiting than a coach who can make our QB (the most fu*cking important position in football) better" is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. Mercy.
