We have ETSU, UTEP, and Charlotte on the schedule. If Pruitt is the guy, he will find 3 more wins.

Missouri, UK, Vandy should be those 3 assuming we stay healthy. Our last 4 games are all very winnable.

IMO... Charlotte(99%), Kentucky(65%), Missouri(65%), @Vandy(55%)

If UK can find a QB this will be their best team under Stoops by a good margin. Luckily it’s at home.

If our guys come out that first game with something to prove, the WVU is at least a toss up. A lot depends on how quickly Pruitt is able to establish things; I think the brand of football he wants to install is a bad match up for a team like WVU.

I think that FLA game is 55-45 odds for Florida at worst. With competent coaching, we would have beaten them last year. On VQ’s last podcast, even Hubbs and co said that loss was on coaching and that Jones would have to own it.

Are you saying the WVU is a bad matchup because Pruitt wants to play man on the edges?

I don't think he will be that easy to read, I think you will see a lot of press zone with delayed blitz's and a rotating 3-4 / 4-3 D-Line.

Grier will not be prepared to make reads on a defense he hasn't even actually seen yet.... Will they know certain principles of the scheme (yes) but they won't know the actually formations etc since it will be game 1.

That alone makes WVU a toss up especially since our offense should be better than last years.

Jones wasn't owning up to anything. That dude couldn't even own up to the vandy lose 2 seasons ago. Left before the media could ask questions.

It is a winnable game but the schedule hurts us with them. Wish we could switch them with Georgia on the schedule.

I’ll get roasted for this but Muchamp has done a good job of building that team.

I could really see them winning the East this year if Georgia has a slight downswing.

If we can’t win 6, Pruitt is not the guy, and we might was well count on another decade like the last one.

These type of ambiguous oversimplification statements are hilarious. There is literally zero truth in that statement. CJP could get lucky and go 11-1 and end up not being the guy. He could win 4 games and end up being the guy. Whatever helps you sleep at night dude.

Actually, if you reread the initial post, I was saying it could be a bad match up for WVU. And my thinking as to why was less technical, and more about physicality. I think Pruitt wants to instill a toughness in all facets of the game that is a tough match up for more finesse type teams; much like Muschamp’s teams were and likely would have continued to be bad matchups for Jones’s teams.

My fault the way I read it I thought you said we had a mismatch. I just don't see WVU having the upper hand there in the first game so I agree with you.

I don't think they'll have a shot to win the east but I do think he's done a fine job there. That'll probably be a loss for us.

Nothing ambiguous or oversimplified about it. We have ETSU, UTEP, and Charlotte on the schedule. I just believe that if Pruitt cannot find 3 wins among the remainder of that schedule, he is probably not the guy.

I think our program is really at a point where he won’t be afforded the mulligan year that our previous coaches benefitted from. If he can’t make a bowl, it will be tough to recruit the kind of guys he wants, and that’s an unfortunate cycle to be caught up in.

I think he will regret his OC choice. I think he’s making all the same mistakes he did at UF. Peaked in year 2 there, and I think he will at USCe too.

With a first time OC? Not impossible (and I’m way too lazy to do the research on this) but I can’t imagine brand new OC’s have a fantastic track record.

I complete disagree about it being a bad matchup. WVU runs a ton of mesh concepts so hopefully we will be able to bump them off their spots and delay them getting off the line. All those quick throws will neutralize our pass rush so it will be up to our DBs to lock up and hold their WRs for a little bit.
