Hey guys...under center...I formation.

You know what else? There were a couple of times when we lined up in the I where we didn't run the ball. I was totally fooled. It was like they were trying to make it harder to tell what the play was.

Whatta relief...

Yeah very nice to see. One thing I was impressed with watching it live was the rhythm jg had on the passing plays. After hearing people say he holds the ball too long I found that encouraging. I was curious so I went and rewatched just the passing plays with jg at qb and he got through his progression and got rid of the ball in 3 seconds or less almost every time. I'm sure it was a limited progression but still. I only saw 4 plays where he held it longer than 3 seconds and they were all in the 1st half. I didn't count his long run cause he only held it 2 seconds before deciding to take off. The first time he held it 4 seconds was due to play call mostly. Slow developing play action that he completed for a 1st down. Then the 2 sacks which were on him mostly. The last one was when he broke the pocket and sprinted to the sideline before throwing into field goal range at the end of the half. Jg seems to be putting in the work in the weight room and the practice field and is really improving. I think Helton did a great job of getting him into a rhythm and keeping him there.

I didn't hear his comments but there is a complete difference between saying "WE won a lot of games and titles when I was coaching at Alabama" and "Boy, it sure was great when WE won the 1961 national championship".

65,000+ coming off a 4 win season is pretty damn good Jeremy

This and he better watch what he said about the fans or he better win quickly. I am pulling for him but if he’s gonna talk that dog 💩, I won’t give as much rope. You win then you can say what you want. Otherwise shut it. 4-8 and increased monies to get insulted. 💩

Thanks. Couple things that stood out to me. He said there were 12 players out injured today but only 4 injuries have occurred since he was hired. The other 8 were leftover from the butcher. That is maybe the best stat of all today. And he said the offense was very vanilla, which we all knew. The reason it stood out to me was it was less vanilla than our offensive scheme from any game last season. Haha.

Right! I knew it was vanilla and still better concepts than under butch. Defense was very vanilla too.

I have nothing against him at all. He’s a great kid. I just take performance fwiw. Most of our throws were very easy. He needs to complete them and at a higher rate than he did. The TD to 1 was a 50/50 jump ball that’s all i was saying about that. I’m usually not big on completion % but when you have no risk at being hit and vanilla defense and you don’t have a high one then that is a red flag.
You’re looking way too much into it. He had a few drops and then the ball away a few times. He was about as accurate as you could hope for. He still needs to work on getting the ball our more quickly, but he showed some improved on that as well.

The stat line wasn’t really indicative of how well he thre today, though I do think a couple of his throws would have been disrupted a bit by the DL ahead it been a real game.

He was talking about when he was growing up as a Bama fan. It was totally innocuous unless you’re petty and pedantic.

Just got back. I got stuck on the shuttle line/ride and didn't hear what he said. I heard some talk on the radio and thought he wasn't starting well criticizing fans when there was a good crowd there (IMO)

But this is fine. Nothing to see here. Just the truth.

Much ado about nothing imo

I agree with this. He was late on a couple more, but I think he is improved. He is a skilled passer who needs more refinement. I think he will continue to improve.

He has gotten much better and we’re only a few months into a new system. I expect that much more improvement by the time the season starts.

Disagree, I was there. There was 50k, maybe. Lower level wasn’t a full as the pictures on here look and upper level was sparse. Guarantee there wasn’t 100 people in the south upper.

No offense but you're wrong. Due to my job I have a very good idea of how many seats each section of Neyland holds and there was every bit of 65k there between stands and concourses.

What i see is a lot of forced balls into tight coverage on the misses. Sideline down the field throws are not very accurate.

RIP Earl Bruce. Never knew loudmouth Buckeyes WR’s coach Zack Smith was his grandson.

So I'm trying to find a rerun of the game today on the SEC network. Can't find a rerun of our spring game for the next few days, but they've decided to rerun the Alabama and Georgia spring games like 5 times a piece over the same time period. That's called irrelevancy.

Lol...I was looking last night to find it, so I could record it to watch the first part that was missed due to the softball game running over. I thought the exact same thing. Ours doesn’t play until Thursday I think, while Bama and Georgia replays at least once a day.

I was there and I counted every single person. OK, I was there but I did not count them. The lower level opposite me was very full. I sat on the 30 in Section R. Though the upper levels were sparse, there were still a decent number of people up there and the lower endzones looked very full also. I totally agree with your assessment.

Hyams and Adams need to go cover Ogre and LSU. Permanently. That's more their speed. Out with the trash media.

JG was significantly better. Timing will improve as they go through camp. Just a reminder that back shoulders and jump balls are built into the O and the QB's arsenal in today's schemes/techniques.

CJP will get better with the communication/media. He's learning as well. But he is a breath of fresh air as a real football coach. It appears his staff gets it as well. Saw a much better offensive scheme even though it was scaled back. The D was plain vanilla. They wanted to see who would compete at a high level without benefit of overdoing the scheming.

Expect to see some guys leaving, IMO. Time to prune the herd.
