.Absolutely but for some reason if you talk about race as something that we created for cultural reasons (and justifying slavery was a major reason for that construction) people freak out. It doesn't matter what color the person is many will swear up and down that race is a real thing rather than something we created to separate people and assign social roles. But it's the same as gender - we assigned roles to people and created gender. But then again a lot of people still don't know the difference between gender and sex.
I think a lot of people just don't want to take the time to explore these complex issues.
Anthropologists are always on the lookout for scientific racism. Unfortunately, your field was the playground for European scientists trying to "prove" the concept of race and racial superiority and Americans who came up with notion of breeding better offspring. From human zoos to "Übermenschen", the story of scientific racism (and sexism for that matter) begins with the notion that one color is superior to another.
Genetic studies have absolutely destroyed the entire concept of race but telling the average person (or student) that there's no such thing as race will get you stupid looks and arguments despite DNA evidence until finally it sinks in.
Anyhoo, the other half was in cultural anthropology so I know exactly what you're reacting to. lol.![]()
You will. It will happen. Getting your career off the ground is important also. I read a lot in here and saw the conversation about you getting your commercial pilot license. I believe you will do great. My dad was a 3 mil miler with Delta and I had over 500,000 with Delta. We both flew with several different airlines all over the world.
That's awesome. Definitely got a while before I get there haha.
But that's exactly what I keep telling myself is to just focus on getting my career started & worry about helping others before myself, then the girl I'm supposed to marry will come along.

4-5 times a week with a gorgeous wife. You?
BTW just to clear the air and hopefully stop the tangent, I am all for you if you decide to have kids. Love them and raise them to the best of your ability. It's just never been for me. I have reasons but they are mine and I will not get into them. Carry on and GBO!
If this would have been your first post, then people probably would have let you be. It's totally ok with me if you choose not to have them and the reasons are definitely none of my business.
Totally respect the opinion, but they are 16-2 ranked top 10. Big wins, too. Might be 16-3 after this weekend, but we have the team to make it to the Final 4, so maybe don't be out?
Yeah, we dont exactly have the moral high ground or anything. When I posted that Stephen Jay Gould link I was like, yeah, I probably came off as a pretentious jerk in the one place where I can go talk football with a bunch of people who just wanna talk football. My apologies, everyone.
Howd that car thing shake out?
