It really comes down to QB play, IMO. What makes it more interesting, since his arrival at Tennessee, Heupel has handpicked two guys to run this offense, Milton and Nico. Neither has run it as well as the two he didn't handpick, Hooker, and now, Aguilar. I'm not saying that means anything, but I'm sure some will get up in arms just for commenting on it. My hope is Faison Brandon breaks that chain and lights up in this offense. It's more than just having the physical tools. Milton and Nico both are gifted physically. The true key is between the ears. The QB has to be able to process what he's seeing and react to it. Milton and Nico both struggled with that aspect. My opinion of Heup’s offense has somewhat eroded over the past 2 seasons. Last night really calmed my apprehensions. I don’t know if the team is good enough to return to the playoffs, but it looks like it’s going to be a fun year to watch.
To be fair, it wasn't all QB. Some was on poor WR play. In this offense, WRs need to be able to read the defense to run the correct routes. That seems to be better this year, thus far.
