Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Go rematch the long run in OT both were chasing AC and Tellander wasn’t fast enough to make the play.
In fairness the defender in the best position to make that tackle was being pulled down by the butt-snifer hand grasping the center of his jersey from beside and then behind. Not that that's a hold or anything. Just sayin...

Guys I didn’t recognize your offense on Saturday. So many of the pass game tendencies that I was expecting to see were gone. Bunch looks, out routes, combination play, quick hitters inside—none of those things were possible in prior years given the alignment. I though the offense was so much more effective and multiple.

We all knew deep shots were going to be crucial, and Aguilar has a tendency to launch the ball in what I call an “arm punt”: high arc, slightly underthrown. And he did that three times on Saturday for 2 TDs and 1 int. If those numbers hold up and Brazzell keeps coming down with them, yall are going to win a lot of football games. A lot. And Brazzell looked so sharp on his routes, too. Giving him room to break outside is just so dangerous and is a potent new addition to your offense.

The pass game was so much more fluid and varied than in years past. I don’t know if it’s JA being better at reading the field or if Heupel is adapting his offensive style, but it was remarkably different. You could see defenders slow down to think instead of just playing fast with one job.

Yeah, it sucks that we still have to hear UGA fans gloat, but they can't say Heup's offense doesn't work against elite SEC defenses anymore. Unless they want to admit theirs isn't elite (which they probably are just to "own" the Vols fans).
They ain’t able to gloat all that much. Their defense got exposed big time by our receivers and Joey. Their run defense is pretty stout though so not many teams will have NFL level talent like we do to overcome that. I’d be surprised if any team is able to score 40 on them like we did.

Good analysis, thanks for the input. I was surprised myself to see the huge variety in play calling in this game compared to last years game. I think it really all comes down to the QB.

I don’t like Josh Pate all that much, but I watched his program last night and when he talked about the game, he said a CFB HC texted him afterwards and said (I’m paraphrasing), “You know they trust him (Joey) in just a few months more than they trusted Nico all year long.” That’s pretty telling to me.

I don’t know if Heupel knew that Joey was this much better than Nico but I guess it really doesn’t matter in the end. The end result is a much much much better team with an open playbook and a QB that can execute it.

how and why did we not target any of our stud TE's on Sat?
We did early in the game over the middle and that's what I would've liked to have seen on those 3rd down situations late in the game. Maybe an RPO pop pass to the TE or something over the middle especially if they are bracketing the WR's on the outside.

Spillman and Dominic are being held here. Those are called against us 10 out of 10 times. We still should have never been at this point. Game should have been over.
We held UGA the entire game and wasn’t called. Holding can be called on every single play. Stop with the dumb ref crap.

mccoy is not playing this year
Folks have said he's basically ready to play/maybe to be sure in a few more weeks which would be awesome...

Saw that He wants to play, but it was said on here where he's getting pressure from his agent to sit out for the season and get ready for the draft?? If that's truly the case and he sits, then go sit at home, turn in your gear and clean out your locker... Oh, and the checks should not be coming anymore... We can use that money for someone else.

If he is healthy and cleared to play, then he needs to play based on his NIL contract I would think... Not what some agent who just wants to get paid suggests...

Couldn’t watch any sports after the heartbreak Saturday but the fact still remains, We put up 41 on that Georgia defense. We learned the identity of our offense this year and it’s better than 2022 and on the other hand We still haven’t learned what our defense can do.

The past two years we have been rotating players in and out and I’m not sure if it is due to NIL or not but as a fan I want to know why Ben Bolton is out there on a crucial third down.

Idk if it’s been said or what’s been said I haven’t really read what’s been posted but Kirby had the right game plan. We are thin up front and he kept attacking it. 3TE sets most of the game will tell you that and that’s tough to defend when you’re down 4 starters against this GA team.

The rest of the season has a lot more to tell but for me one thing is certain, we are a National championship contender.
I do think the offense is just as potent as 2022. Dare I say the receivers as a whole look better?

Unfortunately the defense also looks like 2022. Top 25 ish but not championship caliber.

And if he doesn’t fix it, he’s about to be dubbed “4th and Banks”

5 for 7 is not acceptable.
