Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Their schedule is just so relentlessly brutal. A trip to Miami and an extremely likely L, then a bye week, then they get the pleasure of playing Texas and going to College Station after that. If they’re 1-5 at that point, MSU will probably beat them in Gainesville. Then another bye week only to turn around and play UGA!

UGA ends their bowl eligilbiy hopes, but they still have @ UK, @ Ole Miss, Tennessee, and FSU.

Holy hell, they seriously might go 1-11, especially if the team quits after the Miami, Texas, and A&M stretch. They don’t really have a stretch of “get right” games. It’s just gonna be loss after loss after loss.
Which is why there’s no way in Hades we’re losing to them in the Swamp. We’ll be cooking by then.

Coach Matthews said Gibson hurt but McCoy “I just don’t know about that” rumbled on. means to me he thinks he’ll just be sitting out likely for the draft.
Total conjecture. Also, that doesn't make sense to me. McCoy needs to put film out that he's the same player after injury or he's going to miss out on a lot of money in draft order.

I get not trying to come back too quickly, but it makes way more sense to come back at some point.

Agreed, I don’t think he would’ve went through portions of fall camp if he intended to sit out.

Georgia shows no propensity to make the vertical passing game a part of their offense. This will catch up to them if they don’t develop this. We seemed to figure it out and started pressing more later in the game. They hurt us when we played a ‘soft” coverage.
My biggest gripe is not having over the top help for Redmond on that 4th down play. That would have sealed it.

2nd gripe is no holding on one of their scores. That was the most obvious it had been all game.

3rd gripe is the no pick call on the 2pt conversion.

I do wish Heupel threw a fade there at the end when everyone in the stadium knew we were running it to set up the fg.

Do we think Max makes the fg if we didnt get the false start? Maybe. . . probably.

There are a lot of plays we see that could have altered the outcome for us. What's not being talked about is all the plays that did go our way. We were literally 1 more play from winning. UGA made that play instead of us.

We are now able to go toe-to-toe with any team in the country. There are zero guaranteed losses. I

HEUPEL DID NOT CALL THREE STRAIGHT RUNS AFTER THE FUMBLE

I keep seeing this, it's wrong
I used to try to address these types of ignorant posts. It's a waste of time. Fans don't understand enough of the circumstances that go into decision-making. Every fan that is mad that we " got conservative" on those calls have no idea what defensive alignment they were in....I guarantee you that. UGA knew that was a situation where the offense wants to take a shot. They were not going to allow a shot play. The offenses BEST OPPORTUNITY to move the ball based on their defense was not an aggressive down the field pass play. We didn't execute/got beat in some 1v1. But we look cooler if we go Leroy Jenkins and attack into the strength of the defense?

Did anyone notice any new sets in this game that we hadnt seen yet for UT? What about for UGA? I don't watch them enough to know. I'd like to see if they rolled anything new out, after hearing their fans claim they've been holding back.

Hope so! However, despite Lagway's 5 interceptions last night at LSU, he will look like a Heisman candidate when he plays us. It always happens that decent QB's play their best against us.

I mean come on 4th and 6, and UGA's QB throws a 30 yard TD followed by a 2 point conversion. What's the odds of that? I have never seen a team that has UT's bad luck. When is the last time UT had GOOD luck? (2016 with the hail Mary in the UGA game?, 9 years ago? 🤪 ). Frustration here! It seems like...........

Meme gif. Gloria Stuart as Rose on Titanic with her eyes closed and solemn, saying, It's been 84 years...

With conference expansion, NIL, playoff expansion. Teams should get used 9-3 8-4 type seasons with outlier 10-2/11-1 in SEC. Our schedule isn’t the hardest in conference but they’re trying to make college like the NFL where every team is designed to 9-8. It’s all about who you draw on the schedule. Top to bottom the SEC is still better than the Big 10. Hence why they’ll always be multiple 11-1 10-2 Big 10 teams.

College football let the big 10 get too much pull in things.

All the offense is figured out stuff is put to bed at least. That’s a really good Georgia defense. Wish the defense could’ve played a little bit better but honestly the deference in this game probably came down to the guys we have out injured.
IMO if TN just has Moi and Hobbs this is a TN win.

If those two play there is likely no 7 minutes TD drive to start the 3rd quarter for UGA because TN’s dline is worn down. Plus, I think the pass rush would’ve been even more impressive.

To add to what @SmyrnaATLVolisback said about mccoy, here is where ap talks about it:

8:11 mark of this video is where AP mentions and alludes to mccoy maybe sitting out the year

If McCoy is healthy and can play and choose to sits out, get him out of the program.

Compare this to Brock Bowers who was trying every which way to come back and help his team during their championship run. And Bowers was a top 10 pick

I can't believe I'm sitting here this morning saying I can't believe we didn't beat UGA.

Great day of football that we were just on the wrong side of.

So many things to take from that game on the positive side.

But I think it's clear we need our defensive guys back.

Offensively...I think we played really well. Wrs for three most part we're great. Brazzell was fantastic. Matthews got solid work and showed speed and physicality. Staley I think might be the best all around in the group.
Tight ends... Ok? Not sure snort the blocking aspect...

Feel bad for Gilbert. But there were other opportunities... The false start on sham is just inexcusable. Gave up a game tying TD on 4th and 6. And 2 pt conversion.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda game of the year.

But I digress.

Lots to work with going forward.

And at least we're not Florida or USCe fans today.😂
